Arrow -- "Suicide Squad" -- 3/19/14
AMANDA WALLER SENDS THE SUICIDE SQUAD OUT ON THEIR FIRST MISSION - Following Slade's (Manu Bennett) return and his promise to make good on his threat to destroy Oliver's (Stephen Amell) loved ones, Oliver focuses all his energy on preparing for battle with his former friend. Sarah (Caity Lotz) tries to help but, fearing for her safety, Oliver pushes her away. Meanwhile, Diggle (David Ramsey) is recruited by Amanda Waller (guest star Cynthia Addai-Robinson) and A.R.G.U.S. to stop a warlord (guest star Lee Majdoub) he knew from his time in Afghanistan. Always the solider, Diggle agrees to help. However, he's not prepared when Amanda introduces him to the rest of the team - Deadshot (guest star Michael Rowe), Bronze Tiger (guest star Michael Jai White) and Shrapnel (guest star Sean Maher), all criminals he and Arrow helped put away. Lyla (guest star Audrey Marie Anderson) defends the team and explains the world is a complicated place, but Diggle isn't sure he agrees. When the mission takes a dangerous turn, Diggle is forced to make a difficult decision. Larry Teng directed the episode written by Keto Shimizu & Bryan Q. Miller (#216).
Didn't see a thread for it.

Loved her offer for counselling.
Has it been established before that Ollie knows Waller? Or will she be appearing in the island flashbacks soon?

Damn you. I was going to do this just now. It still 2 hours away from airing in Los Angeles, I keep forgetting the east and central people.

Nice that they got Tara Strong to voice Harley - err - the "deranged female squad member": http://www.greenarrowtv.com/voice-su...voice-of/16624
Would have been nicer still had it been Arleen Sorkin. Any word as to why she's distanced herself from that role after Batman: Arkham Asylum?

Nope. Waller has shown that she knew Oliver was the Arrow, but there has been nothing before now, specificity, to say the two knew each other previously. Nice twist, though.

Thanks. I recalled that she knew Ollie was the Arrow but was surprised/confused when it was revealed they knew each other personally.

I liked this episode but not as much as I thought. Mainly because I think all the events happening in Starling city slowed the episode down. I was more intrigued by the squad and Diggle, international man of mystery that they alone could have filled the whole episode. The other parts just threw the pacing off and really didn't amount to much.

Harley!!! Had me laughing - easily best part of the episode.
So much happens in this show I assumed we'd seen Waller and Olie/Arrow interact before.
Was the Russian mob GUY one of the observers on Fringe?

He's definitely a bit hammy with his facial expressions.
I thought this episode was all kinds of awesome, especially that shot of Deathstroke on the roof. I can't believe they got that Harley cameo in the show.
Casting a hot, young actress for Waller now makes a lot more sense. Who wants to bet that Ollie and her have romantic history?

Awesome episode. Good to see some more backstory with Diggle and some of his past with Lyla.
I've never found Audrey Marie Anderson really hot in the past, especially from her time on The Unit. But man, did she look sexy in that negligee. Not surprised that Diggle couldn't resist her seduction.
I'm not really familiar with the Suicide Squad. Are they a popular group in the DC comics universe? The cameo that you are all raving about was lost for me. I'm not familiar with the character at all.
Poor Shrapnel. Getting blown to pieces for being a stupid douchebag.

Cool ep. Nice Harley cameo. I still say the actress playing Waller is too young.

Harley Quinn is the Joker's psychotic girlfriend/partner. She's become a hugely popular character since the animated series of twenty years ago. Probably the second-most cosplayed female character after Wonder Woman or Supergirl.

i am taking a page from justified and believing if i don't see the body anything can happen. so here's to shrapnel finding a way to take out the chip and fake an explosion.
side shots of sara and laurel tell me one has a caboose that can crack a coconut and one takes too much Noassatall.
really nice to see sara induce ollie to open up. i hope they keep showing her bringing out the best in him.
sad, no thea or peter parkour.

Mixed episode. Agreed that the Suicide Squad stuff was kind of weak. Did the Bronze Tiger actually contribute ANYTHING other than killing the terrorist guy in about 2 seconds? It played out like a bad episode of Agents of Shield. And that drone strike was laughably bad.
The Ollie/Sara stuff was great though. DAT ASS... Sara's is pretty good too.
"Slightly" NSFW (still PG-13)

It was more like Breakout Kings than what was depicted on Arrow. They worked for the government to reduce their sentences. This is close to the version introduced in 1987. The only character missing is Capt. Boomerang. At least that is what I remember.
