Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (Sledgehammer Games; 11/2014, PS3/PS4/360/XO/PC)
Here's what we know so far:
Activision and Sledgehammer will officially announce the details on the next Call of Duty in late-April/early-May. With dismal sales for Call of Duty: Ghosts on the Wii U (150K units moved, compared to Black Ops II's 250K units) and PC, the jury is still out on what we'll see offered on those platforms.
I personally thought Call of Duty: Ghosts is the worst entry in the franchise since Call of Duty 3 and the game lost all momentum that Treyarch brought to the table with BOII. I am willing to see what Sledgehammer comes up with, but I won't be too disappointed if this game sucks as we'll have Destiny, Evolve, Halo, and other high profile games coming out those last four months of 2014.
- Sledgehammer Games, co-developer of Modern Warfare 3, is taking over the reigns as Activision switches the Call of Duty developers to three-year release cycles (meaning Treyarch's game won't see the light of day until November 2015).

Having the honor of developing the new, next generation of Call of Duty is a developer’s dream come true. All of us here at Sledgehammer Games have a shared vision to create the best work of our lives. The next Call of Duty represents a new era for this amazing franchise, and we look forward to sharing what we have been working on.

Finally, we’ll give our teams more time to polish, helping ensure we deliver the best possible experience to our fans – each and every time.
We needed a third studio capable of delivering the level of excellence required for the West’s biggest interactive entertainment franchise and Sledgehammer Games fits the bill. They demonstrated their skill on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and on their past highly-rated games. - Sledgehammer will focus on the next-gen consoles only.

- NeoGAF is reporting Sledgehammer's first Call of Duty will be developed first for the PS4 and then XO after. The leak came from user "Famousmortimer," who was the first to report the 720p/1080p differences between Call of Duty: Ghosts on the next-gen platforms. This is unlike the past titles in the franchise which were developed for the 360 first and then ported to the PC and other consoles after. Another note, Microsoft's one-month exclusivity on the franchise's DLC ends with Ghosts. Can Activision and Sony be talking for exclusivity similar to their deal with Destiny?

I heard that Activision is going to make a public announcement about COD changing to the PS4 as lead platform. I have no idea if this means DLC (I assume MS locked that down for multiple years) but COD was a XBOX 360 game that happened to be on the ps3 last gen. That will be a hugely symbolic move… and don’t discount what that means to the masses.

Can't wait to see a next-gen-first CoD. I skipped Ghosts because I'm still having way too much fun with Blops2.

I posted this thread when Evolve was officially announced: http://forum.dvdtalk.com/video-game-...te-2014-a.html
2014 is clearly the year of the jetpack in video games.

With Ghosts I've finally given up on this franchise, I played it for multiplayer and the connection was terrible with lag etc.
Played the pc version of Titanfall and had a magnificent ping and playing experience, so f#ck COD.

At the very least the developers seem to understand that they need to rethink their product strategy and cycle plan... that said, unless they revolutionize the gameplay this series will be stagnant compared to the stellar FPS's coming out and Titanfall.

Well when a new game comes out every year, you would have to think that innovation would be a minimum. Ghosts was just so boring, and the multiplayer a joke, that I've just had it with this brand.

After playing Titanfall, I think Respawn should make a Call of Duty.
Oh yeah. Fuck you, Activision.

I actually really liked Ghosts. I thought the campaign was a disjointed Michael Bay movie on crack...but I enjoyed it. I also thought Obliteration was a blast. But then again, I never played BLOPS2.

I got Ghosts for free and only played about 10 minutes of it. Battlefield 4 and Titanfall took all my attention. I'll wait for reviews to see how a true next gen Call of Duty goes.
It's funny that people actually look forward to a Treyarch version now.

They did. It was called Call of Duty, Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
I never thought I'd see the day.

I was actually excited for a second and thought they were taking it in a new direction this year. Oh well, I'll just hold on to my Goldeneye memories.

Game Informer has a cover story coming soon. The file name has "Blacksmith" in it; a hint to the title of the game? I hope so, because otherwise RACIST
Apparently more will be announced on Sunday.
