I enjoyed it. The dad isn't the brightest bulb, but that gives the character room to grow. The girl is good--not annoying like some kid actors can be. And thank god they're having her act like a fairly normal kid and not some Jesus-like figure.
One gripe: How is the mom of the sick kid going to deal with that much cash? You can't just deposit that much without drawing attention from authorities. And if her employer--a casino--finds out she suddenly came into a big chunk of cash, they might think she stole from them.

^ Agreed. The show definitely warrants some leaps of faith from time to time. The scripts could be tightened up -- hopefully they'll work through the kinks as it moves along.

Think it would help telling him it's his kid vs not.
Could not one say it was a gift and than go from there? If the Casino has no records of missing funds you would think that would not be an issue.

This opened up the show's mythology, now we know there are others with powers. I assume it's some sort of secret organization that has genetically engineered these kids. This was a little more coherent than the rough pilot episode and had a more believable threat.
