Community - "App Development And Condiments" - 3/6/14
03/06/2014 (08:00PM - 08:30PM) (Thursday) : GREENDALE BECOMES GROUND ZERO FOR THE BETA TEST OF A NEW SOCIAL NETWORKING 'APP' - Dean Pelton (Jim Rash) invites two designers to Greendale to beta test their new social networking Application. What starts as a fun social interaction of ranking classmates turns into an all-out class war as Greendale students compete for the highest score. Jeff (Joel McHale) and Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown) battle for supremacy, while Britta (Gillian Jacobs) rails against the very concept. Meanwhile, Professor Hickey (Jonathan Banks) goes underground - literally - until the whole thing blows over. Danny Pudi, Alison Brie and Ken Jeong also star. TV-PG

Did anyone notice any other sci-fi references besides Logan's Run and *snicker* Zardoz? Loved the tag trailer. Total late 80's raunchy college comedy.

The dance they were doing was from the old Gil Gerard "Buck Rogers"show. Brilliant.

Great episode. My only complaint this season is that there is not enough Annie. Sure, Glover left, but Brie has been an afterthought the last several episodes as well. Come on Harmon, give us Brie worthy gifs dammit!
Did any sports fans happen to catch Joel on Sportsnation today? He was only supposed to be on for one segment, but trolled most of the remainder of the episode. It was hilarious.

5's have lives
4's have chores
3's have fleas
2's have blues
And 1's don't get a rhyme because they're garbage.

We should have a meowmeowbeenz rating system on DVDTalk.

In a vacuum this was a fun episode, but I'm getting a little tired of the "Greendale becomes a crazy dystopia" theme episodes. I was actually enjoying this one more during the first act before it went all Logan's Run.

By the way, if you guys haven't seen it, check out Rick and Morty. Dan Harmon's influence definitely shines through (with his and Justin Roiland's humor mostly intact). Animated show, literally the Remedial Chaos Theory episode every episode, start on episode 2.

I found the episode lacking in laughs, but it was really brilliant. And the concept of the app was classic.

That was brilliant, utterly brilliant. Some of the best social satire I've seen on television in decades. It's now my favorite episode of Community. Truly next-level comedy of the highest order.

Yeah, the satire was strong with this one. Much better than the one that aired the week before that.

I liked it a lot. But it made me a little sad because I couldn't help but think how great Troy would have been in a meowmeowbeenz society.
