What are you reading? (March 2014)

Just finished:

The decade of the 2000's was really hit-and-miss for me. But with 11/22/63, Joyland, and now this, that's three in a row from King that I've really enjoyed. His writing seems focused and he's actually coming up with good endings.

I was skeptical when first hearing about a Shining sequel. But having read it, there's really nothing wrong with revisiting the character of Danny Torrence as an adult, with a completely new set of supporting characters and villains.

I enjoyed it, but it wasn't very substantial.

Still making my way through this. Glad to hear the sequel (Doctor Sleep) is halfway decent. I'll likely read it eventually.

I've been reading all the Jack Reacher novels after seeing the movie but I still cannot picture Tom Cruise as Reacher based on the way he is described in the books. The closest I can get to an actor that would fit the description, in my head, is a younger Dolph Lundgren.

I loved it. Amazing coming of age story. My only problem with it is it seems like it wasn't plausible for the main character to experience that many things in his first 16 years of life, but I still loved reading it.

Use of Weapons finally started coming together for me around 25% in, and I ended up liking it quite a bit. Enough to move on to the 4th book in the series.

I liked Criminal Enterprise better than The Professions. However, I thought The Professionals was good (not great). If you really didn't like The Professionals, Criminal Enterprise probably won't be a good read for you.
