Noisetrade Books: a new site for free ebooks
For years I've frequented Noisetrade for free music from mostly independent artists and some bigger acts (The National, fun., Guster, Josh Ritter, etc.). It's a great site. Well, they recently started offering ebooks for download:

If you're not familiar with their model, basically you trade your email address for the album/ebook and then are signed up for that artist's/author's email list. (Of course, you can immediately unsubscribe.) They also give you the option to kick some money over to the artist/author, if you're so inclined.
Like their music site, they have mostly independent offerings. And just like I do with their music, for good or for ill, I'm doing a whole lot of cover judgin' when I browse. But Noisetrade just signed a deal to distribute a handful of Grove Atlantic's titles. I just snagged The Finish, about the killing of Osama Bin Laden. That should be a good read.
They also have one of my all time favorite books: P.J. O'Rourke's Parliament of Whores. If you're interested in politics, pick it up.
