Game of Thrones marathon ...who's with me?
so in anticipation of April 6, i decided to get the 1st 2 seasons cheap and will get S3 tomorrow.
decided to marathon them all. thought anyone else who is might want to share 1st time views, views once again, what have you...
so i begin with ep. 1 "Winter is Coming" via Netflix since i didn't get my sets yet.
what a difference the 1st ep makes in understanding the families and thus the feuds! wow! is all i can say. i was in awe yet again and can't wait to go through the Blu-rays with the in-episode guide turned on so i can can full Boyle out of it.
anyone else planning on doing this?

I'll be doing it at some point. But its way too soon right now.
Before I do that I really need to marathon season 1 of The Americans.

The pause in TV from the Olympics caused me to be caught up on TV. That and a DVR disaster that wiped the hard drive, erasing all of the old stuff I was endlessly saving. I preordered S3 so I might just marathon them again.

I did something of a rewatch last year when I watched season 2 then went back through most of the first two seasons to refresh myself. I'd love to sit down and watch in order, though.

I can safely say this was my fourth time watching-through and I was still catching little symbols and bits of foreshadowing I hadn't seen before. Ready to gear up for season three tomorrow.

I re-watched all the previous episodes before season 2 and again before season 3. I may go back and re-watch 2 & 3 again (3 for sure), but I can't see going all the way back to season 1 again for what would be the fourth time. I completely agree that it was a new experience re-watching them compared to the first time. Definitely worth doing at least once. So many layers to the story that were floating just underneath the surface are revealed on a second viewing.

I tried season one, it's just too dark, depressing and cruel, (I can watch the walking dead just fine, Game Of Thrones Just goes too far) there are a couple story lines I am curious about and will likely have to take a look at whatever season and episode Joffrey dies a MILLION deaths!

Seriously? The Walking Dead is the most relentlessly miserable show I've ever seen. There is not a single joke or moment of comic relief, it's just despair followed by more despair. Game of Thrones goes to some dark places but there's a lot of humor and hope along the way.

Something about how the evil, depressing, cruel, dark of Game Of Thrones is done just bothers me more.
I can agree that the Walking Dead is quite relentlessly miserable and the other shows I watch don't tend to be so dark.

I'm told repeatedly by many people that I have to catch up with this show because I'd love it, but between wanting to read the books first and fact that it doesn't stream anywhere, I get the sense it'll be a long time before I can .

Re: Game of Thrones marathon ...who's with me?
so i just bought a new Blu-ray player just so i can avoid changing discs when i want to play a movie vs. tv show and this marathon made me do it. no swapping in and out. plus, i got a little better Sony model. luckily, i got the 3 seasons for under $30 so the $120 for the player doesn't hurt too much

I couldn't. I watched the quick season 1 and 2 recap that's available on the season 3 Blu-ray and then proceeded directly to season 3 episode 1!
I've only been watching the series as it hits Blu-ray so it's been about a year since I finished season 2. I probably could have gone the marathon route for a full refresher but I couldn't wait to watch season 3.
I'll do a full marathon as soon as the series is complete.

Re: Game of Thrones marathon ...who's with me?
I just started watching S1E1 yesterday for the first time. Hoping I can catch up before S4 starts. Unfortunately, I couldn't even finish the first episode as I started it too late and was about to fall asleep with about 10 minutes left. Are all episodes a full 60 minutes long? This could take me awhile.
