Can't wait. I have complete and total faith with the talent involved and hopefully since it is on HBO, they can realistically approach this subject since no one else has come close.

I hope with this and some of the other announcements that HBO is getting back to entertainment that reaches broader audiences.

I like Johnson and HBO has a good track record with their shows for the most part so I'll check it out. I'm a bit surprised that Johnson is willing to commit to doing a series when he's already a pretty big name in action films recently.

The Rock just posted on his Facebook page that Ballers will premiere this June.

I suppose shooting an 8-10 episode 30 minute comedy didn't take much of his time.

Looks really cool. Surprised it's only a 30 minute show. A 30 minute dramedy with The Rock as the lead. This can't fail.

I initially wasn't too keen on the premise initially, but The Rock will certainly make this watchable.

Since this is a 30 minute comedy and only a 10 episode order, it probably wasn't a huge time commitment for The Rock. If it gets a 2nd season, I'm sure he can squeeze this into his schedule. Only potential conflict in the next year could be the next Fast and Furious movie, depending how much Hobbs is in it.

I'd normally be "meh" about a show like this, even as a football fan. But as a Steelers fan, I'm interested because former Steelers RB Rashard Mendenhall is one of the writers of the show. He always seemed like an interesting guy, albeit one who needed a lot more than 140 characters to explain himself (i.e. he was a moron on Twitter, but very well spoken otherwise). Besides, I wonder how many people have gone from the NFL to being a card-carrying member of the WGA in less than a year?

I really do think that having Johnson in this show at what seems the height of his career is an example of HBO now having close to the same power as a major movie studio.

Good start. Really liked it. Johnson was quite funny. Lots of eye candy. Nice to see Taylor Cole also as Johnson's girlfriend. Surprised they were able to get away with using the NFL logos for the Dolphins and Bills without this being an officially NFL licensed show.

One thing I found interesting was how they portrayed Spencer as this big player, smooth talker and still in it with the NFL players etc. , but he himself is actually broke when we saw him at the ATM. Guess that's why he needs Jarrett as his 1st client. This show is looking like the sports version of Entourage.

I liked it. Felt like a mix of Entourage and Any Given Sunday. I'll stick around. I wonder if this lightens up a bit or it stays closer to the drama side of it.

Well the pilot was really terrible. I'll give it a few more eps to see if it gets better but the acting, storyline, and production was not good at all. Despite the producers involved. And the twist at the end was very very very predictable.

I didn't like this at all. Found it hard to pay attention to. I am not a sports fan so I am not sure if that was it.
I enjoyed the Brink much more. I'll give this one more episode to see if it gets better for me.
