Gracepoint (remake of UK series Broadchurch) -- Coming this Fall to FOX

Surprised that nothing was mentioned about this here.

http://www.deadline.com/tag/gracepoint/

Here are all the Deadline stories since last November about the new series.

This will be a 10 hour "Event Series" this Fall. They have already started production.

David Tennant from Broadchurch will be the lead actor of this series. He's playing an American version of his British character.

Here are the rest of the stars:

Anna Gunn
Jacki Weaver
Kevin Rankin
Virginia Kull
Kevin Zegers
Michael Pena
Nick Nolte
Josh Hamilton
Kendrick Sampson
Sarah-Jane Potts

This will be filmed in Canada

Description of series:

DESCRIPTION:
(from FOX's press release, November 2013) Emmy Award-winning actress Anna Gunn ("Breaking Bad") and two-time Academy Award nominee Jacki Weaver ("Silver Linings Playbook") will join Welsh BAFTA winner David Tennant ("Broadchurch," "Dr. Who") in the highly anticipated event series GRACEPOINT, set to premiere during the 2014-2015 season on FOX. Set in an American town, GRACEPOINT is the American version of the U.K.'s most-watched new drama of the year, "Broadchurch." The gripping crime series follows the tragic and mysterious death of a young boy found dead on an idyllic beach surrounded by rocks and a jutting cliff-face, from where he may have fallen. Although the cause of his death remains unsolved, the picturesque seaside town where the tragedy occurred is at the heart of a major police investigation and a nationwide media frenzy.

I had posted info in the original Broadchurch thread.... I think...

I wish he was just playing the same character brought Stateside. I don't get the whole remake for American audience with same actor thing.

This will be over in 15 minutes if their going to be accurate to American detective work. They'll just arrest the daughter's boyfriend (the only black person in town).

#notscottish

Agree it looks good, but I do find the character similarities (to the look!) and shot for shot remakes a bit comical. What was wrong with the original?! Oh, I'm sure the accents.

Wow. Tenants going from Broadchurch to Gracepoint back to Broadchurch. I wasn't expecting him to use an english accent though.

I'm in.

No you didn't. You took a wild guess that by chance turned out to be true. Not the same as figuring it out.

That's what I was thinking. But to be fair I did the same thing with the Killing and happened to be right....which also let me feel let down.

So can I assume that this will have exactly the same resolution as Broadchurch? I enjoyed Broadchurch quite a bit and love this sort of limited series, but if I already know the end I'm less likely to put in the time.

No, the President of Fox said the ending will be different from the UK series.

Hmm. That's what made the original have impact. I was shocked by the revelation I'll tell you that.
But yes there would be no point in my watching if it were the same. They'll have to be very creative to top the original's ending
Spoiler:
and Gunn is going to have to act her ass off to even come close to the amazing Colman.

Spoiler:
they made it look like every other person did it except for the cops husband. The only way the series could be 10+ eps was if he did it.
