Flappy Bird

So who else is playing this addictive game?

My highest score is currently 19

For anyone that hasn't downloaded this yet better hurry. The creator is taking it down tomorrow.

Flappy Bird creator says he's taking the game down

Flappy Bird creator Dong Nguyen has announced via Twitter that he will be taking the game down some point on Sunday. He has stated that he "cannot take this anymore."

In subsequent tweets, Nguyen explains that the taking down of Flappy Bird is "not anything related to legal issues" and that he still makes games.

I guess making $50k a day in ad revenue is too much to handle, or perhaps Nguyen is settling down for an early retirement. Either way, looks like there is room for all other Flappy Bird clones.

I have no clue what he means by "Cannot take this anymore" ??? Dude is making $50 k a day off ad revenue. How is that a bad thing for him? Is he getting harassed?

My high score is 65. For a more difficult clone try Iron Pants. My score in that is 51.

Re: Flappy Bird

And surprisingly it's actually on the Windows Phone 8 app store.

It was good for a 10-15 minute distraction while the kiddos were getting ready for bed last night. Got up to 19. Not sure if I'll ever play it again though.

Re: Flappy Bird

Yeah, it's ridiculous to play a videogame on a handheld tablet, right LMM?

Not only that, but it also rips off that old flash-based Helicopter game (same concept), which was actually fun and worth playing. This one sucks. Not sure why it's all of a sudden so popular.

Then why would you click on a thread for a game you have no interest in other than to basically threadcrap?

A lot of people like these kinds of games. They're simple and quick bursts of entertainment when out and about. No harm No foul.

Re: Flappy Bird

It's a terrible game but it's also kind of addictive. Not sure why it's popular, and I hadn't even heard much bout it till I saw a thing on Reddit about him taking the game down, so I thought I'd download it. Sounds like it was just a little practice project for him and it was never intended to be popular. Just one of those things I guess.

That's actually a fake version, released by some other developer to cash in on Flappy Bird's success.

Also, fuck this game.

Re: Flappy Bird

Hated it and deleted it the same day I downloaded. I will say I did play it for a little bit before I questioned what I was doing. I hate how badly the hit box is. Too many phantom kills for me.

Re: Flappy Bird

I thought I was halfway good at these sort of games but twenty attempts and a score of zero was my limit. Back to Warhammer or SpellQuest.
