is Shameless on next week? Showtime didn't say anything about having the week off for the Super Bowl, but the DirecTV guide doesn't have it listed for next week

I guess they changed their plans. Weird... And HBO...airing new episodes on Saturday? It all just sounds confusing.... Why not just take the week off and make them available on the apps/on demand starting Monday. Then air on the 9th.

It's great for those of us that couldn't care less about another football game and still want something new to watch next Sunday.

I think a much more interesting (and appropriate with what they set up) direction for Lip at school would be if he was really bored by his classes and teachers instead, and have him try to figure out how to make things more challenging and more engaging.

Yeah, the problem with Lip's story is that nothing shows us that he's slacking off or not trying. So him barely treading water in everything comes off as not consistent with how smart they painted him out to be the last few seasons.

It's freshmen level shit, for crying out loud. And that work/study program isn't that hard to work around. They tailor make it around your studying time.

It would make more sense if the things they showed us was him fucking around. When you only see him work, study and barely making the basic grades, it paints it as a much different picture.

And Fionna's character this season is painted as irresponsible compared to past seasons that it just feels out of place for the characters.

agreed, the writing has suffered this season.

Who knew they would miss Jimmy and IAN so much.

not a big fan of the worn out Frank..

all the storylines are very meh

and fiona is coming off as a big wtf, after pleading for the kids last year...

The series seems to go in a paint-by-numbers approach, where you see what's coming a mile away (ie. daughter wanting to bang Frank), and when it tries to be unpredictable - they produce inconsistencies in characters (ie. Lip having troubles at school).

Re: Shameless - "Like Father, Like Daughter" - 1/26/14

I would have liked Lip's story to be him fucking around in college and it being easy for him too. If the goal is to get him home they could have easily done it by having him get suspended for something.

Is Ian gone for good? He worked well with Lip.

Don't really care about what's going on with Fiona and Frank.

Deb is interesting. The writers have done a good job of making her come off as a typical teenage girl. The problem is that she comes off as a typical teenage girl and its amnoying.

Seems like this is the season where the wheels come off.
