A Walk Among the Tombstones -- D: Frank S: Neeson -- 2014

Director: Scott Frank (The Lookout)
Writer Scott Frank (The Lookout, Minority Report, Out of Sight, The Wolverine)
Cast:
Liam Neeson

Plot:
Private investigator Matthew Scudder (Neeson) is hired by a drug kingpin to find out who kidnapped and murdered his wife.

----

It's Neeson, what more do you need to know? The director has a pretty solid writing background too.

Scott Frank is mostly good. I've liked him ever since he worked with Soderberg on Out of Sight.

You should check it out. It's a fantastic little film. Jeff Daniel's gives an Oscar worthy performance, IMO!

It does look good. Who'd have thunk 10 years ago that Liam Neeson would be an international leading man/action star. He's more reliable than Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise or Johnny Depp these days.

Love love LOVE the Lawrence Block/Matthew Scudder novels. While I don't picture Neeson as the literary figure, I trust Scott Frank enough to handle the property.

Might have to give the book a try. Lookout was solid, so I anticipate this.

Yeah, Scott Frank is back in the saddle again! The Lookout is the bomb, yo! Frank is also a favorite writer of mine. He did Out of Sight and Minority Report and many others.

This one is very neo-noirish and I love the whole "secret organization" behind the killings. It's got that whole "night of owls" vibe going for it.

*night of owls is is from the Batman comic book written by Scott Snyder.

Re: A Walk Among the Tombstones -- D: Frank S: Neeson -- 2014

Just saw the preview for this the other night in front of A Million Ways to Die in the West. I hadn't heard about this film but it looks really damn good to me. Seems like an action thriller like we're used to from Neeson, but with a bit more substance. Looking forward to this one quite a bit.

Funny enough, I checked out the library book and saw that it was #10 in that particular series with that main character. Shit. Looks like I'm gonna have to start from the beginning of the series now.

If I might make a suggestion, start with 8 Million Ways To Die. It's a great entry point and really sets the tone for the archetypal Matthew Scudder novels.

Avoid the movie of the same name. It's an abortion.

Yea. Looks like it's more than an average cop and serial killer movie.

Looking forward to this one, doesn't seem to be terrific but looks good enough to entertain me (based on the early reviews).

Looks a lot like a Taken sequel but that's not necessarily a bad thing
