He had the funniest scene in LICENSE TO DRIVE (giving the driving test)...now both those actors are gone.

So he was only 42 when the show started. Wow. In my head I guess he was older.

The first time I saw him was on Fresh Prince, and then years later on an episode of That 70s Show. Haven't seen him in anything else, unless it was a forgettable bit role.

I remember when he was on That 70s Show he appeared to have lost a lot of weight. He could stand to lose more, but he looked a lot healthier than on Fresh Prince.

I still use the "what am I, speaking Greek?!" line from time to time.

RIP Uncle Phil. I bet Will feels guilty for sneaking him all those cheeseburgers now.

That's Avery Brooks, not James Avery.

Yeah, I was surprised he was only 65. He looked like he was sixty on that show.

For reference, Will Smith is now 45.

I've seen it both ways, 65 and 68. No idea which is right.

Sucks, though the first joke about Will Smith now being the King of Bel Air did make me laugh.

Wasn't he in the show The Closer as the original morgue attendant? I really liked him and it sucks that he is gone.

Weird. NYT says 68, LA Times says 65, and his Wikipedia page lists his birth year as "1965 or 1968."

A few years ago in interviews he looked to have lost a lot of weight.

Sad news in any case.

It's the difference in the time zones between New York and Los Angeles ...

What's really creepy is 2013 - 68 = 1965 while 2013 - 65 = 1968. Conspiracy!

Are we sure he isn't just pissed again?
