American Hustle vs. Wolf of Wall Street

so these came out same time-ish. both skirt the line between comedy and drama with AH pulling it off more adroitly.

varied discussions across the threads...

so for those that have seen both, which is more enjoyable to you?

me:
WoWS hands down. it was breezy for 3 hours. showed degradation and indulgence in such a fun and airy way. the pacing was better for me and the characters more engaging/enjoyable.

WoWS without question. While AH had a lot of great stuff in it, it was in dire need of a little energy and tighter editing.

I think American Hustle was the better movie, but Wolf of Wall Street was more entertaining.

I think I tend to agree...

and Wolf had far more sex, nudity and drugs than American Hustle - Hustle though had the better script, and tighter editing.

AMERICAN HUSTLE had some great acting in it, but the story was rather bland. WOLF OF WALL STREET had both a great story and great acting. The fact that WOLF OF WALL STREET is a half hour longer and seems a half hour shorter than AMERICAN HUSTLE proves that nobody out-Scorseses Scorsese.

Saw Hustle just now. Though I wasn't crazy about Wolf the way so many of you others were, I still have to give my vote to Scorsese's flick. I'll agree w/ Giles on Hustle having more of an original plot compared to Wolf, but (Regardless of how redundant Wolf seemed to get) it still felt way more alive than Hustle.

Why wasn't Catching Fire a poll option?

I want to pick "Are you high?" for all of scott's polls, but I decided to go honest for this one.

Wolf of Wall Street easily for me.

This. I liked AH a lot, was just a fun movie but its story is very disposable to me. Wolf though just keeps throwing shot at you at a pace that doesn't derail.

With so much shit Wolf gives to you it made me think it was much longer. It was a very very well controlled film with its time. AH was a lot of fun but you felt the time on it. It's a very Scorsese film but its not as tight as a Scorsese flick.

Re: American Hustle vs. Wolf of Wall Street

Wolf of Wall Street the breeziest 3 hour movie I have ever seen. American Hustle was terrible and seems like a 4 hour movie.

But I am pissed at myself for contrbuting to this thread.
