Amazon: Godzilla (Criterion) $7.50, Metropolis (Kino) $1.50 plus shipping

Not sure if this is a price mistake or what, but it was worth mentioning. The following items are NEW from the marketplace's Clover Media:

Spider-Man 2 (+ UltraViolet Digital Copy) [Blu-ray] - $.99 + $3.99 = $4.98
Shark Night (blu-ray) - $0.79 + $3.99 = $4.78
Kiss of the Spider Woman (blu-ray) - $4.50 + $3.99 = $8.49
The Real Ghostbusters, Volume 1 (DVD)- $1.50 + $3.99 = $5.49 (or $0.30 less from Xcess Limited)

DEAD
The Unit Season 4 (blu-ray) - DEAD
Mystery Science Theater 3000: XXIII (DVD) - DEAD
AVP: Alien vs. Predator / Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (Unrated Two-Pack) (Blu-ray) - DEAD
Giorgio Moroder Presents Metropolis: Special Edition (blu-ray) - DEAD
Godzilla (Criterion blu-ray) - DEAD
The Forever Marilyn Blu-ray Collection (2013) - DEAD
Repulsion (Criterion DVD) - DEAD

This seller has the same prices on half.com, which offers lower shipping.

Tried for Metropolis, Godzilla and Marilyn. Not holding my breath after the last one, but it'll be great if it goes through. Thank you for posting.

I would have jumped on Metropolis if it was the complete. I've never seen it, and I don't think I want Moroder's version to be my first.

Agreed on Metropolis. As soon as I realized which version it is I cancelled it.

I wish the KINO complete version had the original German intertitles though.

I first saw the Moroder version of Metropolis when I was about 6. It definitely ruins you to the regular version if you watch it first. I hate 80's music--hate it!--but this is definitive version for me now.

Kino is definitely dumping the Morodor Metropolis, but that price is unreal. Unfortunately they couldn't pay me to own it!

The real restored Metropolis is priceless if you haven't seen it. Along with Die Niebelungen imo it is Lang's best work.

The Monroe is very tempting, but I already own everyone one of those on dvd restorations.

Re: Amazon: Godzilla (Criterion) $7.50, Metropolis (Kino) $1.50 plus shipping

thanks OP and for the Half.com reference. Multiple items from the same vendor on half.com results in reduced shipping per item as well. Got Metropolis and Marilyn - first item was $2.99 and 2nd was $1.89 in shipping. Got Alien vs Predator double set from another seller for $0.25 lesser :-) (every cent counts on a shopping on a dime experience)

The Marilyn set will be a gift. Price can't be beat.

Got both Godzilla and Metropolis.

I already have the other Metropolis release, though for $5.50 to get this was not much of a debate.

IMO, sellers are more likely to honor their Amazon orders because Amazon severely punishes sellers for cancellations and their site nets more sales than any other. Either way you go, best of luck!

The mass sellers don't really have the same problem with cancellations as small sellers. The mass amount of orders they have make it statistically insignificant.

Same seller also has Ally McBeal Season 2 & 5 boxes for under $1.00 each on DVD. And the original Twilight Zone Volume 3 DVD box for under $10.

Logical or no, the fact that the price errors were on Half.com also makes me less confident they'll honor these.

MovieMars is one of the biggest, and they just did a huge mass cancellation.

Re: Amazon: Godzilla (Criterion) $7.50, Metropolis (Kino) $1.50 plus shipping

If anyone wants a good copy of Godzilla but doesn't want to spend $25 on the Criterion Blu-ray, I recommend buying the Classic Media DVD instead. It's currently going for just over $8.

I own both the Criterion Blu-ray and the Classic Media DVD, and I can tell you that both are excellent. They both include the Japanese version (Gojira) and the American version (Godzilla: King of the Monsters), with excellent documentaries and commentary tracks on both versions. Also, all of the extras on the Classic Media DVD are unique to that version, so if you buy the Criterion Blu-ray later, you'll be getting new extras.

Whatever you do, don't buy the Classic Media Blu-ray. It looks no better than the DVD version, and it only includes the Japanese cut of the film.

Just to recap (with links) so there's no confusion:

Criterion Blu-ray - $22.99
Classic Media DVD - $8.39
Classic Media Blu-ray - $10.71 (avoid this one)
