You missed 48 hours.
I haven't seen all his work but I LOVE Hard Times and The Warriors. I'd love to own the latter on BD but fuck you, Hill.

I've only seen two films of his I actually like
Since The Warriors is now defaced almost as badly as a George Lucas movie, I'll have to go with Hard Times as my favorite. Just saw it again a couple months ago and was incredibly impressed- especially because it is so un-formulaic. No twists, no pretentious character arcs- just a straight ahead, anecdotal tale. Loved it.

The Long Riders and Extreme Prejudice are frequently underrated. The Warriors has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid so had to go with that.

Hard Times. I remember watching it HBO in the 80's and thinking "Oh my god, Bronson would have made the perfect Wolverine."

Tough one for me: toss-up between EXTREME PREJUDICE, JOHNNY HANDSOME, and TRESPASS, three of the greatest crime films of the last quarter of the 20th century. I went with PREJUDICE because I've gone back to it the most times. I need to see JOHNNY and TRESPASS again to reassess them. GERONIMO's very good also and is the last film of his of any real value. That was 20 years ago. I don't know what happened to him.
Of the others, pre-GERONIMO, they each have their distinct pleasures, but none are as cohesive and expertly constructed as the ones I cited.
For a long time there, Hill was the master of the mid-range genre film, the kind of film that interests me the most. Few do this kind of thing well anymore. Ridley Scott's THE COUNSELOR could have fit in there, but it was too Goddamned literary. The characters talk and philosophize too damn much. Hill would never have allowed that much dialogue. Neither would such one-time genre greats as Don Siegel, Robert Aldrich, and Phil Karlson, men who are among Hill's spiritual godfathers.

Streets of Fire is a beautiful film, The Warriors the most fun, but I think Trespass has to be my favorite. I can't believe I am such a fan of his and have yet to see 48 Hours. That one & the sequel are the only films on the list that I haven't seen.

Does Southern Comfort still hold up? My little pre-teen self was nearly traumatized by that one when I first saw it on video. I still haven't seen it since the 80's.
Nice to see some love for Extreme Prejudice. Always liked it's Wild Bunch-esque finale. And Red Heat just might be my biggest guilty pleasure of all time. I always have to stop and give that one a lengthy look while I'm channel-surfing.
As for the poll, I still gotta go with The Warriors. As much as I love the movie, the video game made me love it even more.

Since 48 Hours isn't listed, I'll go with The Warriors. Such an awesome flick.
I also love Brewster's Millions, and have a soft spot for Red Heat. Arnold during his prime.
Another 48 Hours is flawed but still enoyable. I've never seen a movie with so much broken glass.

Went with Southern Comfort. It was a close call between that and Streets of Fire, but despite me LOVING the soundtrack to Streets, I think Southern Comfort is the better movie.
To the poster above that asked if it still holds up, I think it does. Love the cast too.
Is Extreme Prejudice available anywhere in OAR? Its been years since I've seen it but I remember liking it and want to check it out again.

Amazon Instant Video has the TC of The Warriors, free with prime. It was awesome to see it without the destruction that Hill approves of. I always forget how much I love the intro credits.

I haven't seen the DC of The Warriors and have no desire to, I still can't believe that Hill approved the Lucasing of the film that way.
I own the soundtrack to Street of Fire, but not the movie. The movie is OK, the soundtrack is fantastic.

I went with The Warriors because I think that's his most enjoyable movie that still holds up pretty well(gang goofiness not included). But I also really like Streets of Fire so this was a tough choice for me.

I remember winning FREE TICKETS to go see "Extreme Prejudice" when it came out in 87.
I overpaid What a piece of shit...
Hill made a ton of mediocre movies (he and Peter Hyams should team up) and a few good ones. I'm gonna say "Streets of Fire" because of young Diane Lane and the bacon-trampoline.

What was changed in The Warriors? Just the narration? I don't think those comic frames would have been in the original. They looked too clean. I've only watched the Director's Cut.
I actually had little interest in ever seeing it. The DVD just came in with a bunch of junk at my shop. Watched it a few months ago. Never knew what I was missing.
