I didn't really love the pilot, but I have enjoyed each episode more than the last and now I am hooked.
This was a really good episode. So many things to enjoy.

Ichabod and the laptop. Great stuff.
Glad that the captain is now a part of the group.
Really interesting developments with Andy and the ex.
I am enjoying this series so much.

By rights, this show should suck ass... and maybe it does. I don't know.
But it just completely embraces what it is and runs with it. It's this weird mix of Sleepy Hollow, Rip van Winkle, conspiracy, history, and the occult that is completely unique and something we haven't seen done before.
In that respect, it reminds me a lot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

As others have said, great episode. Loved it when Crane went off on the "Teacher".

Poor Crane was just out of sorts about water, the teacher, and Thomas Jefferson. I liked how the Captain pulled a Matrix move to avoid getting beheaded too.

I think the shortened 13 episode season really works in the show's favor as it has to keep moving right along and can't slow down to over examine the things that really don't require further exposition. It's cheese but it's good cheese.

This episode was the barest skeleton of a plot lathered in jokes and character development. And it was awesome.
It also felt like it was written under the assumption it would be the last episode before cancellation. A lot of subplots were, if not resolved, settled - sis is getting out of the pokey, Irving is confronted by the Horseman and becomes a full-on member of the team, Abbie's ex is backed off, John Cho's character is kinda neutered as a threat, and the Horseman is imprisoned. There's plenty of room to continue, but if the show did disappear tomorrow, the end of this episode doesn't leave any agonizing questions to gnaw forever at fans.
This is a program with a completely ridiculous premise that it embraces wholeheartedly, a breakneck pace, great characterization and humor, and an ethnically diverse cast. It can teach Agents of SHEILD a metric fuckton on how to do a genre show right.

I bailed on S.H.I.E.L.D. after 1.5 eps and now find myself eagerly looking forward to Sleepy Hollow.
Boy, was I wrong...
