The Blacklist -- "Wujing" -- 10/07/13

Synopsis:

RED AND LIZ GO UNDER COVER TO SPY ON A NOTORIOUS SPY ASSASSIN - CHIN HAN GUEST STARS - The FBI is on the hunt for a high-ranking Chinese spy, Wujing (guest star Chin Han) which Red (James Spader) claims has hired him to help decode a classified CIA transmission. Liz, (Megan Boone) posing as an FBI cryptographer goes with Red to decode the message while protecting US government secrets. Meanwhile, Liz proactively investigates Tom (Ryan Eggold). Diego Klattenhoff, Parminder Nagra and Harry Lennix also star.

Episode 3 of 22

Remember, NBC ordered a full 22 episode season last week.

Don't be surprised if the ratings hold up that it gets an extra episode or 2 later in the season.

Aaaaaaamazing! Show keeps getting better and better. The fight scene at the construction site was great.

Felt the tension from the beginning to the end of the episode.

^ Was kind of unsure on the pilot, but yeah spot on - this has been getting better and better each week.

A good mix of action and popcorn fun and a story arc. Interested to see where apple guy leads - perhaps a bit heavy handed in that early scene, but I guess needed for folks to make the connection to the surveillance at the end.

And worth mentioning the obvious again - Spader is pretty ideal for this role. I can't imagine how this show would be with Kiefer in that role as Djariya mentioned as a possibility early on - glad he passed.

I think I missed the part at the end when the analysis came back...
Spoiler:
why was it classified? Because some higher up marked it as classified when the request came in, because the kind of casing it has is marked as classified, or because it's coming from Keen?

I've had the past 3 episodes queue on my DVR (haven't watched them yet). Was "this" close to deleting them last week, but decided to let it ride just in case. I may start watching them since it seems to consistently be getting very positive feedback 3 weeks in. Glad to see this for a new network show (a rarity).

It's worth checking out. I think this is the only new network drama show I've kept ...besides AoS

because the weapon she found was some super highly classified murder that only certain people had access to. i seem to recall them saying only the secretary of defense had access to the information about that murder case that was classified.

(not being pedantic) i thought it was the director of Homeland security, which took me into possible "assassination of terrorist/suspected terrorist on US soil" territory.

Still enjoying the show but there was some plot issues I had to overlook. Spader is made for this role. I wonder how long they will string the answer to her question. It's still pointing towards the obvious but, hopefully, it will go a different direction.

Three episodes, three guys taking headers out of a window of sorts! This and Sleepy Hollow are my favorite new shows.

Easily the best new show of the Fall season. It's a fast-paced actioner that somehow has weaved suspense and the mystery about the husband together, without dumbing things down too much.

Re: The Blacklist -- "Wujing" -- 10/07/13

Good stuff. My favorite new network this season.

Spader is definitely carrying the show. Adds a lot of wit and sarcasm to playing Reddington.

Some really well done action scenes in this episode. I really like that they are attempting to give it a grander feel than your standard open and shut procedural.

The fight scene at the construction site with Donald and the Chinese goons was pretty awesome.

I'm liking Megan Boone more and more as Liz

Hmm, curious about the mystery man watching Liz's place. My theory about Red from the Pilot might be thrown out the window. Could that be her father?

So each week, is this bitch going to put that box away only to drag it back out? And she does a ballistics test intead of googling the fake passport names? C'mon.

Just glad we got a show that seems like it's a hit. Hopefully, it will last past 1 season, unlike how quickly downhill Last Resort went.

Really like this show. It's not grand storytelling but it's fun. When Spader grabbed the gun and took down that guy.. awesome!

No stabbing in the neck with a pen though - either to hurt or help someone. Guess two episodes with that happening was enough.

I used to think Spader was a douche, but he's really good in this.

That's what I thought too, apple man is her dad...which makes it super creepy that he just put cameras all over her house (ick).

I like how in the restaurant they just kinda throw away that line. "You can be my girlfriend.." "ok, you're my kid then" or something to that effect.

I agree that this is the best new network show of this season.

I'm enjoying this show very much. I'm not sure why the have Megan Boone in such a god-awful wig though.

NBC is re-airing The Blacklist tonight (Sat), but it looks to be episode 2 for some reason. Strange.
