Lol, speaking of which he is an executive producer. He could have stepped in and said these storylines were bad, but he didn't so he's to blame also. Either that or he just didn't care and wanted to get it over with. Atleast based on spoilers something exciting happens tonight.

It's especially sad considering he was on Six Feet Under and had said in the past that he was not interested in a show going beyond 5 seasons.

Well, the show really hasn't gone past 5 years. They have just been going through the motions more or less. So maybe he meant that quality only needs to exist for the first five. I'm waiting for the cast to break out in song and dance in the finale to reveal that the final episode is a musical.

It certainly has gone past 5 seasons though, which is what I mentioned. That was his mindset during the end of Six Feet Under, but clearly things must have changed since then.

I'm sure it was money talking that made Dexter continue on. Showtime clearly didn't want to give it up (if it had been their way this wouldn't be the last season) and I'm sure they probably gave him so much to stay that he would have been a fool to turn it down. It hurt the show long term though no doubt by having it go longer.

Man... this was probably one of the best episodes of TV I've ever seen. This is how a final season should be wrapping things up! Oh shit... I'm not in the Breaking Bad thread?

This was stupid. I need to risk all these plans and the rest of my life to kill saxon. Oh wait, I don't like murder anymore, I'll hand you off to the police. They'll never have any questions about your mom and deb & I...
"oh I'd love to stay and help you subdue the dangerous psycho killer deb or at least wait for backup to arrive, but I gotta run...laterz".

I can't wait for the final episode!*
*because it means this awful season will be over.
I'm a big Dexter apologist. The show peaked with season 4/Trinity but up until last year even it was an entertaining potboiler without dipping into guilty pleasure territory. And it was genuinely funny. I'd take a guilty pleasure at this point.
This guy playing Saxon is literally the most bland and unremarkable actor I've ever seen cast in a major part. In ANYTHING.

Worst episode of the season. How did Marshal Lem not recognize a major fugitive?! Oh let me untie you Mr Killer all over the news.
Lazy writing to get Saxon free again.
UGH

Yeah, Lem should have known about the situation. That was just plain idiotic. What else. Off the top of my head...
I'm not even going to touch the stupidity of Dexter backing off from killing Saxon, that's on a whole other level. I still have Breaking Bad in my mind and I'm going to go watch The Newsroom finale.
- Oh yeah the new "lieutenant" is of course mysteriously absent again.
- It's okay for Dexter to work the case involving Quinn and Liddy and mess with the evidence in season 5 but here Angel wants Dexter to step back?
- Deb doesn't notice that her house was raided by the authorities? Even if it were put back in normal condition, she's supposed to be a good detective so what the fuck was that? And how'd they get the warrant so fast? They found no prints or evidence of Hannah whatsoever? How?
- I'm surprised they didn't show a 45 second clip of Miguel's wife on the "previously on" segment, so kudos for showing some restraint.
- Angel isn't pissed that Quinn left his sister for Deb? He's usually on Quinn's ass for something like that.
- Which clip did Dexter release of Saxon? You'd think he would release ALL of them to give closure to the victims families and the police. Especially to fucking Zach, his friend. And if Zach's was the one he released, you'd think he'd mention it since he was-oh fuck this shit.

Watched this after tonight's BB. The stuff with Saxon is turning into comedic relief at this point. I wonder if we'll see Harry again? Could have been his last scene tonight.

Also does anybody else detect a European accent with Saxon? Seems a bit off but I'm not sure. Not like an English accent that he's hiding due to the character, but due to bad acting and masking his actual accent.
Just looked him up, he's from Iceland. There we go.

The Marshall was a fucking idiot. Did he not see any of the news reports that aired throughout Miami showing Saxon's picture that he's wanted? Just a lazy excuse to get him free again.
As mentioned in a few previous weeks, it's so damn frustrating that Hannah can walk around Miami and even go to an airport with her long blonde locks flowing without any kind of disguise, even though she's a wanted fugitive and murderer.
And yes, that was so random to see Miguel Prado's widow appear in this episode as Dexter's real estate agent.
I totally get that most of you are frustrated being that this is the final season and the show isn't heading towards a more realistic end game considering the events of last season and how things started out.
I have a strong feeling that the series finale will either end with Dexter or Hannah getting killed. That seems to be the end game they are heading to. I can't see Dexter being led off in cuffs at this point. The whole deal with the Bay Harbor Butcher and all the murders that Dexter committed over the years seems irrelevant at this point.

Just when I thought Dexter had hit a new low, well I watch this episode. Wow. And they set up the end so well last year. I mean holy shit, the Captain would have realized Dexter is the BHB the minute La Guerta died, but instead "Harry would be proud of both of you". I have no idea what the showrunners were going for here.

I've been hating this season, but this episode made things a bit interesting considering I'm really curious how it all turns out.
