Bones - Season 9 thread - Premieres Sept 16, 2013

Yep, it's been on for 8 seasons so far, is anyone still watching?
I'm still enjoying the show quite a bit. We'll probably see more of the evil genius Pelant (Andrew Leeds) this season.

I'm still with it. Interesting cliffhanger at the end of last season with Booth backing off marriage to Bones because of the threat. It's predictable 9 times out of 10, but still fun. I'm sure they will be married by midseason.

BTW, there is an updated cast photo for season 9. Emily doesn't look like that anymore.

I'm finally giving up on this . My Mondays are too crazy and between what the writers did at the end of last season and David Boreanaz, I'm done. I'll catch up at some point on Netflix I guess.

They should just have Hoggins get dubbed over for a line like;
"Boy, I hope we solve this case so we can end up on the 10pm news with your host (insert name of the local news anchor to your Fox affiliate) and (insert co-anchor) before they get to weather with (insert weather man)"
It would be a lot better than the sleepy hollow plug.

Hawaii 5-0's subway promotion at least had... well, at least had a sense of capitalism. They would collect a pay check. But with Bones it's typically always just pimping out other Fox shows or film productions. That Avatar episode was god awful

I liked last night's episode, but it looks like they're back to what made Season 8 so frustrating for me - the every other week pattern. Every other week is a good, dramatic episode, followed every other week by a lame attempt at lighthearted Dramedy, often with Booth and Bones going, "Undercover," in gimmick episodes. So, basically, every other episode is at least partially lame. Yeah, that means that half the episodes are good, but if half are OK at best (flat out bad at worst) that makes for a frustrating experience as a whole.
This show needs to be put down. It's passed it's expiration date. It's like Star Trek TNG's 7th season. (That season had a couple absolutely craptacular episodes, "Masaka is waking," anyone?) Either that or they need a new producer (and a new writer - or two - who is familiar with early Bones) to get the show back to what made it so good from seasons 1 through 5 or 6.
But as I do like every other episode, and the optimist in me hopes that the lighthearted episodes will rise above the lame plot gimmicks (which happened a couple times last year), I still watch this thing.

I actually liked that. Why not? A lot of us were fairly excited to watch the show (Sleepy Hollow), so it isn't that outlandish to think that one of the characters on Bones would want to watch it, too. Yeah, it's an obvious plug (which makes it kind of funny), but it's also something that fits in the real world.

Gave up on this show a few years back. Not because I didn't like it, in fact I still enjoyed it quite a bit I was just watching too much stuff at the time. I probably won't pick it back up just because of my waning interest in most serial television but I'm glad it's still on and going strong.

Kind of a neat episode last night. Lots of returning guest stars was fun - especially the recurring squints all together at once. Having the psychic played by Cyndi Lauper sing her version of "At Last" was an especially nice touch along with Bones recalling the time when she and Hodgins were "buried alive".

I'm a week behind with the episodes, so I just watched the one with the terminally ill teacher being murdered. Yet another FOX plug, one of the squints was reading Mindy Kaling's book. Not just as background, one of the others mentioned it too.
