From the release date shifts on Amazon, it looks like this has been pushed back to October 18th. It's unclear at this point if this is just for the physical releases or if the digital versions will be affected too.

Another delay. The digital release is being pushed back to November. Barring yet another delay, the physical release will be coming on December 13th.

Got my code on Friday. It's a cute, well made, old-school platformer that isn't old-school hard. Looks good. I like it so far.
It turned out much better than the much-higher profile Mighty No. 9 did.

The new Shantae game looks good, plays well. It's a competent modern update of a classic game. Mighty No. 9 is not.

I'm not getting at anything. I was seriously wondering if you had played a Shantae game before this one or if this was your first.

Ah. The question was phrased in such a way to imply "What were you expecting?" rather than "Have you played these games before?".

I bought the two previous Shantae games on the PS4 in sales over the past year. I went in to this Kickstarter as a blind buy with no prior Shantae experience because LMM had a pretty good summary of the game and said he believed in Way Forward studio and wanted to support them. It was a good post that got me on board (before he edited his original post to read "123" for some odd reason).

Sorry about the wording. I saw you had Kickstarted it but wasn't sure your familiarity with the series. I played through both the PS4 releases and they are both really fun and well-done metroidvanias. If this new one is like those two they start off on the easier side but they had some challenging parts and bosses.

From what I've read from Kickstarter backers so far, the general response seems to be:

1) More challenging than Risky's Revenge or Pirate's Curse
2) More fun than Risky's Revenge; still very good but a bit of a step down from Pirate's Curse
3) It's more linear than the previous two Shantae games

I'm really looking forward to it. I picked up physical copies of the two PS4 games in anticipation, although I've only played through Risky's Revenge so far. I had a blast with that, and if Pirate's Curse is even better...!

So i played this for about an hour this morning and it gave me the worst headache I've ever gotten from a videogame. The combination of the not great framerate mixed with the fact that the screen is constantly bouncing around really did me in. I've been pounding Tylenol all day and it isn't making a dent in it. I've played through all the other Shantae games and never had this issue.

Interesting. I see what you are referring to but it didn't bother me at all. I thought it was a cute nod to the rhythm elements of the game. I love the music in this game. Great stuff.

Finished it up today. I still had a slight headache the whole time but nothing as bad as the first day. I still think the other two Shantae games on PS4 are better games but this one is still solid. It's also quite a bit easier and shorter. No real tough platforming bits and I don't think I died on a single boss fight. The previous two you really had to use your items to your advantage to make it through some of the boss battles but this one I barely used them at all.
