"The Legend of Shelby the Swamp man" - premier 8/13/13
Shelby was the Louisiana nutcase from "Ax Men" who finally got his own show. They previewed it with a "Best of" featuring 16 scenes of insanity from Ax Men, like when he nearly took out the camera crew and when he almost got his family killed in a lightning storm on the lake.
The premier picked up after the hurricane from last year, with his houseboat trashed. He drove a realtor nuts until she sent him to St. Louis for the perfect houseboat. of course he's never flown before and that alone produced a lot of unintelligable babble. Turns out it was an old pirate show from river tours, which of course he bought. Episode 2 featured him wanting to add a gator head to decorate his new pirate ship. Naturally this was not done the easy way.
They are following the same format as Duck Dynasty, running 2 half hour episodes back to back.
I don't know if it will work. Wayne Knight was once asked about a spinoff series for his Seinfeld character Newman. Wayne wisely said that some characters like Newman are like spices, tolerable in small doses but not for large consumption. I kinda feel the same about Shelby.
But if his hot niece makes an appearance, no complaints.

I don't like that new chick, they should have bought in his cousin Belinda. The swamp rats episode was pretty good.

I watched two episodes, and hated both shows. I really loved Shelby in Axemen, but this show has no chemistry to me. I had to delete my series recording.

I love the disclaimer at the beginning of the show, read by Shelby. "Do not attempt the harebrained things I do. DON'T EVER DO IT!" But they need to subtitle this show because I can't understand a word.
I just hope he doesn't trash that pirate ship because that is badass.

I thought they were done with this but there was a new season started tonight. Started off just as you'd expect. He saw a snake, tried shooting it, grabbed it, and when the snake bit him he went full Ozzy and bit its head off, breaking a tooth in the process.
So he tried using a bunch of wasp stingers to numb the pain of the broken tooth. It's all downhill from there.
This man is certifiable.
