Well glad they didn't drag out the Yates storyline for very long! What are you doing hiding under the bed?! Had to crack up at the SWAT style entrance into the house Deb with her gun and Dex with his syringe

Pretty sure he was carrying a knife.

Good episode. I do have to say that I was a bit surprised that they killed off Yates already, I sort of figured he'd be around a while longer. Seems to me that Deb and Dexter took a pretty big risk of implicating themselves by having Elway trace the phone to the address. Especially if Batista and Miami Metro are looking for houses in the area where Yates was potentially hiding out. If they find that home broken into and search around a bit they might find evidence that Dexter, Deb, and Vogel were all there.

It was interesting seeing Deb around for Dexter killing Yates and not seeming to have a problem with it. Also surprised me a bit that Dexter brought Deb and Vogel out on the Slice of Life to dump the body/evidence.

Also while I don't completely think she's free and clear of any business with other patients the Vogel working with Yates theories apparently didn't pan out. I still could see something happening with her later in the season though.

Something that sort of bothered me this episode was the aftermath of Deb trying to kill herself and Dexter in the car crash. It just seemed to me like no one else even found out about it other than Vogel. It seemed a bit odd to me.

Cool episode. According to the dvr, it was only like 40 mins. Is that right?

Glad Yates got wrapped up. Dex stabbing him through the bed, Friday the 13th style, was awesome. Also cool to see Deb on board.

Preview look like fun times ahead!

Deb's car being underwater is apparently no big deal. Other than that, I liked the relationship building between the main trio right now.

So are we meant to take Yates as the Brain Surgeon as given?

That's probably what they want you to think. Yates seemed to have a pretty different MO than the brain surgeon.

Yates is obviously not the brain surgeon. That storyline is sure to pop back up in a few episodes.

Re: Dexter -- "This Little Piggy" -- 7/28/13

That was a good episode.

at the Anger management session with Vogel, Deb and Dex. I loved how bitter Dexter was.

It was really cool seeing Deb and Dexter (at least temporarily) put aside their differences and work together to rescue Vogel from Yates.

And yes, I was also surprised they killed off Yates, but I guess they are now moving towards the rich guy's son being a potential killer.

Regarding Vince and his daughter: I'm actually pleased to see how smart he is and isn't 100% embracing the whole biological daughter thing yet. I'd like to see if Deb finds any dirt on her.

I wonder if that was how couples counseling would have gone between those two. I guess that'll stop the speculation about Deb being put on the table.

Detective Miller is toast right? Things didn't go so well for the other two black detectives.

Something to ponder:

The song Vogel puts on before being abducted (Mama Cass' "Make Your Own Kind of Music") was also the song playing in the video of the "Brain Surgeon" kill from Episode 2 of this season.

Probably the most subtle thing that's ever been done on the show.

Re: Dexter -- "This Little Piggy" -- 7/28/13

I liked this episode too.

I really liked the scene of Dex and Deb in a therapy session with Vogel. Dex's reaction was great. The acting really shined there.

They really seemed to ignore the whole thing though. I'm pretty sure that wasn't even Dexter's car, it was Jamie's. It's a hole but ultimately a meaningless one, still it would have just taken one line for it to be done with.

I wouldn't be surprised if Yates wasn't the Brain Surgeon though. A lot of episodes left, I can see another Brain Surgeon victim pop up.

They always have a big baddie all seasons, guess who's the only one showing in all/most episodes? Yep, Vogel.

This was a great episode. I'm glad they've pretty much mended the Dexter-Deb fence, and it was cool to see them working together to save Vogel and kill Yates. Couldn't handle Deb in that funk any longer.

Re: Dexter -- "This Little Piggy" -- 7/28/13

Based on some spoilers I've come across:

Spoiler:
A guy named Oliver Saxon is the BS - who turns out to be related to Vogel, and is Cassie's ex. Anyone notice the Cass Elliot song playing in the background during episode 2 in the DVD with the blue gloved hand pointing a gun? There's also talk that Vogel and Matthews may be the BS's parents. Matthews seems involved in all of this in some way, and I think has known about Dexter all along and that talk they had on his boat last weekend about LaGuerta "knowing" about him was just his way of getting Dexter to get her out of the picture so he could get his old job back.

No, I believe Dexter had told Jamie to use his SUV and he was going to pick up a car out of the police motor pool so that was a police car (which apparently makes it disposable)

The other character who is popping up every episode is Sean Patrick Flanery's tho at this point I don't see how he could end up being the brain surgeon and it would probably push Deb past the breaking point to find out another guy she is with turns out to be a serial killer. I wouldnt mind watching Jennifer Carpenter act that scene out tho...

I liked seeing the trio dumping the body together too and wish we could have had a whole season of Deb and Dex working together

I think this episode might be the turning point for me. It's almost as if you can see the gears moving inside the writer's brains. The sequence of events from Dexter finding out that Vogel is using him in the last episode to him and Deb teaming up to save Vogel is laughable.

I'll watch through to the finish, but this show is tired and it shows. I'm just glad they're not milking it anymore than they have.

I thought I had heard it recently somewhere. Of course, the first thing that always comes to mind when I hear that song is the first episode of Lost season 2.

The song was also used prominently in "Lost."

Surpised I didn't think of it before, but there is a Star Wars thing going on here with Dexter/Deb and Luke/Leia. See, even the first characters match. :-)

Doax and Darth. I'm done...

That curtain rod kill was one of the best of the series.
