I have a 32" Sony WEGA, and I was wondering if any of you with WEGAs use the 16:9 enhanced mode. For some movies like Jurassic Park, it looks good, but others, like ID4, the picture looks way too compressed...i know it has to do with the different aspect ratios of the movies...but do you think the 16:9 mode makes a big difference?

No, don't do that! You're squeezing the widescreen picture to your 4:3 Size. It makes everything all thin and tall.

If it's an anamorphic movie, yeah. I'll set my DVD player to 16:9 mode, then turn on the 16:9 mode on the TV. The result is truly amazing! http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/smile.gif

ha ha .. i was very confused too ... especially after I read that some boozos tried to tell here that you put your DVD player on 4:3 and the TV to 16:9 to get the best result .. ha ha
no, as for me, it works when I put the DVD on 16:9 (which it is actually always), and when the movie is anamorphic, (which you will see when the universal globe looks more like an egg) i do the 8 or 9 steps on the remote .. and it squeezes and it looks BRILLIANT !!!
enjoy !!!

I always have my DVD player on 16:9 and squeeze the picture with the WEGA using the 16:9 enhanced mode. I think it gives spectacular results!

Anamorphic dvd's look amazing with the 16 X 9 mode. By the way, you don't have to turn of the 16x9 setting on your dvd player to watch non anamorphic dvd's, just make sure the 16 x 9 enhancement on the tv is turned off.
