Bill Cosby doing first comedy special in 30 years (Comedy Central)
Surprising (in a good way). Also surprising it's going to Comedy Central instead of HBO.
Is it just me or have they really been slacking off on comedy the last few years? Iirc Lewis Black and David Cross went to Epix for their recent specials andd Bill Maher did an internet concert on Yahoo.

For the first time in 30 years, Bill Cosby will have a
stand-up comedy concert TV special.
Comedy Central announced plans to air Cosby’s aptly
titled Far From Finished on Nov. 24. The show is
directed by Robert Townsend and its compiled from
material that Cosby performed at the Cerritos
Performing Arts Center earlier this summer. His last TV
concert special was Bill Cosby: Himself in 1983
Oh, and if you happen to see Cosby today, tell him
Happy Birthday — he just turned 76.

wasn't Bill Cosby: Himself released in theaters? also he doesn't really do 'stand up' as he always sits down in a chair to tell stories/do jokes

I think he lost his magic in the 90s. Maybe he's also aiming towards a much older audience now, as I was easily the youngest in the crowd. Everyone else was eating it up.
I wouldn't think Comedy Central would be a place for this, even though he's a legend. It'll be the only TV-G rated special the network will ever air.

Yeah, I would have aimed this more for Nick at Night or TV Land or whatever these days. That said, it's not like HBO is a better home for G rated comedy than Comedy Central.
I loved Himself. It was the comedy routine back in the day that my parents approved of, but it was still funny. It wasn't until Dennis Miller's Off White Album that they approved again (mostly because it all went over their heads).

I saw him in the mid-90s and it was great. He had a mixture of old bits and new ones, and it was the classic Cosby-style event. I'd watch him again for sure.

There was another special he did after Himself, that was filmed just before he turned 50.
Huge fan of Cosby, I listened to all those great records a hundred times. Am really interested to seeing a new "show" by him. Will he be making social commentary? Just speaking on the aging process? Look forward to this.
But how funny would it be if he did a complete make over of his act, and started using the F and the N-word?

CBS maybe, but the Cosby brand has been tarnished with the sex scandal and also is a bit controversial given some of the statements he has made about members of his race and education.

Saw it and enjoyed it somewhat, but it's not something I ever care to see again.

I love Bill Cosby, but when I watched it I kept thinking about Eddie Murphy's Raw and doing his impression, "I would like to talk to youuuuu!"
