Luther has never been popular in this forum.
Seems like those who do watch fly to England via the internet to catch those airings than wait to watch them on BBC America.
Not sure, but I believe this is the 1st season Luther will be in HD on Directv. The previous 2 seasons that I caught it was in SD.

Can't wait.
Season 1 was perfect and Season 2 was great.
Hopefully a blu-ray set will be released after this and he makes the Luther movie he is planning.

DVD comes out September 10th, 1 week after the BBC America premiere. No Blu-Ray
I believe this premiered in the UK yesterday.

I'm going to dive in to the first 2 season on Netflix this weekend I think.

First episode was pretty good. It setup what looks to be a very interesting final series before the movie.
Don't watch it on Netflix if you can help it, they have the 50 minute edits not the full 60 min episodes.

Also... was Ruth Wilson's name ever thrown around in hypothetical discussions for the casting of Harley Quinn / Poison Ivy? Man she'd be a good choice if it ever happened. I can't be the first person to bring that up.

The BBC America airings from what I recall were usually about 70 minutes with commercials.
I'm in no rush to see season 3. It's only 2 months away to see them on TV here in the States. Plus, the season is so freaking short anyways at only 4 episodes. So what's the rush?

S1 & S2 episodes premiered in 75-minute timeslots (which is what BBCA has done for many 60-minute BBC dramas in the past), so S3 will likely also air that way.

If anyone wants to go half and half ($12) with the Region 2 release, send me a pm.
You will have it no later than August 10th and you can keep it.

I won't spoil anything but episode 2 of the new series wasn't so great. Luther is silly and over the top but always done well enough to forgive. This episode was nothing but plot holes, clichés, and very very very bad policework.

skacore, how are you watching? I didn't think it hit BBC America until later. I was excited that Alice is supposed to be back, since Luther's "relationship" with her was the best of Luther for me. But, from what I've read elsewhere, she apparently isn't in the season much as it's only 4 episodes and she wasn't in the first 3.

I still have to finish the 4 episodes of season 2 from Netflix. I'm in no hurry to see season 3 yet. Will wait until the BBC America airings.

Re: Luther Season 3 -- Fall 2013 (BBC America)
I just binged on all 4 eps, and I'm a bit disappointed as well. I mean the show is still solid, but it doesn't come close to reaching the superb second season. A lot of things started off strong, but fizzled at the end.
But one thing was unforgivable to me.
Actually, the more I think about it the more I disliked. I do think this show did a superb job in the first episode. I don't usually get tense during the murders on Luther, but I totally was during the first killer's scenes. They were shot really well.
One more spoilery bit, comparing the first and third seasons.
