And then he has his last possession stolen by a gang of dangerous criminals. After Animal Kingdom, I will see mostly anything Michôd will do. This is one of my most anticipated films of the year.

I think AK was way overhyped. I liked it well and all but the hype was a lot bigger than what I felt the film had. Also... Could have been condensed a bit more. Otherwise I dug the film and loved the cast.

I want to see this as I thought Animal Kingdom was fantastic. Don't know when I will get around to it, though.

Watched this last night as a rental, and I had mixed reactions. On one hand, it was very slow and boring, and some points nonsensical (why did the thieves abandon the magically undamaged truck?). On the other, it was thought-provoking, well-shot and the acting was convincing.
Don't expect a "Road Warrior" experience from this film.

Just finished this. Really liked it. Some simple motivation for our hero but it made sense in the end.
Pearce was great as usual. Pattinson was great as well.

It's like $6.96 at amazon for the BD now. I ordered it. Really excited for this one. I dig Pearce. Very underused talent.

Found it at Walmart for $7. Had to get it as I see all of Guy's work. I had wanted to see it in Theaters but missed it..

Goddamn. Watching the BD I got for BF now. This is a very fucking interesting film. WTF is it about that car that Pearce's character cares about so much? I just reached the point where Pattinson handles the 3 soldiers. This film is fucking good so far.
Also... I've never seen a gun buy go down like that. Specifically w/ one character in that bit. Didn't know if it was brutal because of it or not. lol.
EDIT:
Damn. That's actually a damn good reason to want the car back. Really fucking good movie. Tells a lot about a man's best friend and how much he meant to him. Obsessive, gritty, and tense. I liked this a lot more than Animal Kingdom, which I thought could have been condensed a bit.
Pearce, man. Motherfucker is the man.

Recently saw The Rover for the first time. Amazing post apocalyptic (PA) film, and very minimalist. I liked the fact that there were no real "bad guys" in the movie, just anti-heroes. The desolate Australian landscape may as well have been another character here. This was not a Mad Max action film, nor was it trying to be.
Two scenes in particular took me by surprise, which isn't easy to do these days - since films have become so predictable:
- When the Guy Pearce character
- When it was revealed -
RP gave an amazing performance as the mentally disabled character - fantastic acting here. His role in this film - along with the more recent Good Time (2017) - have been very impressive.
