I remember the days when just the mention of the semi-annual sale at DDD would've seen a thread like this be on page 2 by now (only 5 minutes after the OP). Times sure have changed.

lol - that's for sure. Nowadays their normal prices are crap for the most part. When they were 10% cheaper across the board than anywhere else, and then they offered everything for another 20% off of that...bedlam.

That must be why a few DVDs on my wish list have suddenly gone up $3-$5 in the last week. I should have know they were getting ready for the big "sale".

Their prices are largely average these days, but I have found isolated pockets of deals when they run their random coupons. Look for titles from certain smaller distributors which are rarely discounted at Amazon. They are almost never the cheapest anymore on mainstream studio movies.

I might consider going on a Scream Factory binge... looks like most of the titles are in the $24 range, which would make them under $18 after the discount...

Not sure if these will get price cuts in the future or not...

I did pretty well with their last sale on Olive titles. If you are a vinyl fan there are some great deals if they qualify this sale.

As others have said, you need to focus on smaller labels. I've found some good deals on Shout/Scream, Kino, Redemption, Olive and Synapse titles.

Though in the recent past, the discount was not site-wide, but only for specific titles. Time will tell.

Even in the "good old days", I never thought these sales were that great. They did have great semi-annual Anchor Bay sales, but I rarely stocked up on much during their semi-annual 20% off sales -- Except I was lucky enough to get the Batman TAS complete series one year because I ordered early.

Re: Olive and Shout movies, importcds is expected to have a June 10% coupon as well. They have better prices but charge for shipping. Sometimes DD works out better for those titles and sometimes DD. But it's worth comparing. Maximize your deal by placing one order with each!

I think this is how most of the last few year's annual sales have gone.
They're hit-and-miss in terms of deals and invariably raise prices a day or two before the sale.

To be fair they run a lot of other sales throughout the year and sometimes items are discounted from one of those and it expires just before the "Big Sale" starts.

I'll say this for DD- they make it a lot easier to cancel backordered/OoS items now, than under the previous management.

I made a list of twenty or so titles I was interested in and their price on DD a month ago. Everything except a few Olive blus has gone up in price. I'm guessing that means Olive titles will be excluded from the sale, but I'd love to be wrong.

I haven't ordered from DD in a year and routinely trash their e mails without looking. Just a waste of my time to even go hunting for a deal. Used to spend 100s a year with them.
