Next Gen: Are you in or out?
With all the heat Microsoft has been getting from gamers about the new X-Box, I'm definitely staying out next-gen. I have an immense backlog that i need to get through and any new games I really want I'll get on the PC. Maybe in a few years when the price drops and no problems with hardware I'll take another look
the only next-gen console I have and will be sticking with is Wii U.

Will I? Most likely yes. Like Chuck, the Wii U is just soaking up dust.
It's just a matter of when. If Battlefield 4 and CoD: Ghosts are available day-and-date on the XO, I'm in at launch.
The PS4 will be a matter of its first price drop... or two, just like last generation!

Zero interest in the Wii U, but waiting for more info and concrete details on the other two. Admittedly, though, it will be very difficult for me to resist a day-one purchase of Xbox One.

who the hell would be out if you still play videogames?
and Wii U isn't next gen
Microsoft better bring the heat at E3 or I won't be even thinking about buying a new Xbox for a long time, Sony will be getting my money first

Re: Next Gen: Are you in or out?
Six months ago, I was looking forward to buying both (but especially the new Xbox). Today, I don't know. Based on what I've seen so far, my enthusiasm is totally gone.
I'll probably pick up one console. But I'm not sure which one it'll be. I need to hear more details. I might even wait until after release date. I'll probably check out the reviews and see how things go for the first couple months.

Waiting and seeing until after E3 and closer to launch as we get more of an idea about pricing.
The Xbox One stuff doesn't bother me so much because i'm used to PC gaming where used games and internet connectivity is already typical and a non-issue, but because i'm into PC gaming I feel like this is the generation where we'll really see good, solid ports on the PC due to x86 on both consoles and that it might be good enough.

I haven't decided yet either, though I know this time I won't be getting both an Xbox and a PlayStation.
By the way, does anyone else find it amusing that only the "weak" Wii U offers total backward compatibility?

Re: Next Gen: Are you in or out?
Everything i heard about the XboxOne so far has turned me off and the PS4 sounds like more of the same with better graphics. At this point from a purely game standpoint the Wii U seems the only good choice, but i'll probably hold off on that for another year or so. Really, with a kid on the way and the amount of travel i go on i just dont play that much anymore. PSP Vita and 3DS with occasional PS3 play will keep me going for i think another year or two at least.

I will get a Xbox One in about a year or so. I got burned getting a 360 on launch day. I had three to get the red light of death in the first six months.

I'm in for an XBOX at launch. I've enjoyed my 360 more than any other console ever. Probably will get a PS4 eventually once some heavy hitter exclusives are delivered.

Unless something changes, I won't be getting one at launch or ever. I am just going to get a new gaming laptop. I haven't played my 360 since last summer. Well, actually, the 360 is used all the time, but just for netflix and hulu.

I own a Wii U but plan on selling it in the next week or so.
Xbox One better have some damn impressive features to compensate for its clusterfuck DRM.
PS4 sounds extremely promising, but I actually want the media hub/TV options of the One and hate the Dual Shock-style controller.
So I'm in for the generation, I'm out under the table.

Re: Next Gen: Are you in or out?
Given that neither console is backward compatible, and given what I know now about both systems, I'll most likely buy a PS4, but probably not at launch.
- I find Sony's exclusives far more compelling
- Sony seems to have ditched their obtuse programming architecture
- Sony seems more focused on games and less focused on live TV, which I never watch, other than sports
- Sony will hopefully continue to offer free online play

Re: Next Gen: Are you in or out?
^ Free Online Play is still a double edged sword, and while Sony doesn't have BC they do have the Gaikai service coming which sounds incredibly promising. I will gladly pay $20/month for a Netflix-style catalog of older games.

Re: Next Gen: Are you in or out?
Since there wasn't an option just for the two next gen systems, I had to vote for all three. But have no plans to pick up a Wii U anytime soon. I still plan on picking up an XBox One at release or close to it, and a PS4 within the first 6 months or so after it releases. I made the mistake of buying a PS3 on release day, but didn't buy anything but Resistance after the first year it was out. And of course, missed out on the first price drop of $100.

Re: Next Gen: Are you in or out?
I already have a Wii U, or should I say my Mario/Zelda machine. I should have waited to buy that.
My gaming time has shrunk a lot, so I can't see myself buying either of these at or near launch, especially the Xbox with Microsoft's history on launch hardware.
I'm planning on buying GTAV for PS3 and that will keep me busy for a long while. I also have the proverbial backlog.
I'd say the first thing that will really make me think about the PS4 will be if MLB The Show makes a marked improvement in graphics.

Re: Next Gen: Are you in or out?
It depends on what Sony does. If they go the Xbox One route, I won't be getting a PS4 either. This generation will be dead.
If I play any games, it'll be on a tablet where I only play free games and I never do in-app purchases. Aside from advertising, they make no money off me. I might, however, reconsider getting a Wii U.
