I like her. She's cute. She's not as hot as some of the ass Ted has pulled over the years but lets be honest those girls were way way way way way out of his league to begin with. This chick isn't out of his league. It's nice to finally get a face too.
This was a good episode too as a whole. The Marshall/Lily stuff doesn't interest me and hasn't interested me all season. I really don't care if they go to Italy or not.
Barney and Robin were funny though. I can totally get why they would want to fuck with that terrible couple. Kiristen. Drunk Robin was great too.
I like where they went with Ted/Robin. We were all annoyed last week but I think they did a good job bringing it around. I wouldn't understand if Robin still loved Ted and was about to marry (or breakup with) Barney. I do get that Ted still has lingering feelings and I get where he was coming from, even if it was a bit whiny. But if it weren't whiny and girly then it wouldn't be Ted.
If this happened with 3-5 episodes left it would be perfect as there is just enough story left to tell to cover that much. But with 22 or whatever episodes left I certainly expect it to drag and limp across the finish line.

Is it just me or does she look exactly like a cross between lily and robin?

No idea who this girl is and, in the beginning, I was kind of let down.
But after thinking about it, maybe that's a good thing. But I agree, a whole season next year seems just too long to wrap up these few things. I think Goat3001 has it right that about 5 episodes would be more than enough to mercifully finish things off. As it stands now, season 9 will probably not raise HIMYM in anyone's estimation.
That said, I hope we're pleasantly surprised.

Yeah, they sold me in the Ted/Robin relationship. I mean Ted's side.
Sorry but my first thought of the mom was "she's ugly". I'm sure I will get to like her.
I'm not that negative about the last season. I think they can do it.

I think they have enough story left for another season.
The show has been spinning its wheels for so long with the mother that they haven't been able to properly move the show forward. Now that hurdle is gone.
The final season leads off with the wedding, and Ted FINALLY meeting the mother at the train station. Then you could probably have the next episode cover the train ride, and Ted's subsequent decision to stay in NY. Then you have several episodes of dating, and of course Ted knocking her up, since they've about run out of time for that.
Then you have the final slap which is deserving of an episode of its own (it's actually scheduled for November 11th, well A slap is scheduled for that date, Slapsgiving 3 perhaps?).
I'd even like to see an episode of what the mother was up to all of these years. Show the near misses from her perspective and such.

The reveal to me felt like "Oh no! we did again, not enough time for proper pacing and story telling. Quick write up something quick because we promised to show the mother this year."
I mean, I thought I read somewhere that the actress for the mom was filmed with the kids way back when. This does not feel like, look like, or even come close to that. Unless the absolute last scene is a photoshopped family portrait.

If there is one thing we know about this show, they are great at dragassing stories and plots. I still enjoy it but a lot of the episodes feel like filler now.

^Well that's an interesting way to handle it. I can see that working.
Marshall & Lily have been dead in the water since the kid was born, but I'm digging the Judge Erickson plot.
The Ted & Robin crap at the end of last episode brought eye rolls, but they actually pulled off a satisfying explanation/closure in this one. Kudos.

Hi, me again.
I didn't understand some quote. 02.20 Lily says: Watch a movie that doesn't start with a desk lamp jumping on top of a capital "I".
What does that mean. :S
