Does anyone know the difference between the different Simpsons DVD releases?

So I'm looking on Amazon for The Simpsons DVD sets by season.

Apparently they released a bunch of seasons about 10 years ago on DVD. And they also recently released them again in 2012.

Does anyone know if there are any differences between the versions? Is one better than the other?

I'd like to get whatever versions are the best.

I'm sure just the packaging changed

Season one is season one
Season two is season two
Season three is season three
And so on...

Well...duh. I just wanted to know if there are any differences in terms of extra content or edited episodes. You never know.

The only difference, if anything, is the packaging, as manicsounds said. (And based on what I've read on other forums, I'm not even entirely sure that changed, either.) Discs are exactly the same.

If they got rid of the foldout packaging, that I think started with season 11, I will gladly rebuy 11 and 12, they always had scratched discs, and after that I started buying the blurays.

Speaking of blu rays, is there really that much of a difference between a DVD and a BRD when it comes to animation? I can understand physical people and environments looking better in HD, but I would think cartoons look the same no matter what the resolution.

From what I've own and can compare, there's a huge difference.

Yeah, from what I've seen there can be a huge difference. A lot of it, though, is how well the cells are cleaned up. The cgi stuff, like Toy Story or Brave looks outstanding. But that's to be expected.

I'm actually interested in seeing what they do when they hit season 20 in the release cycle. Are they going to skip over it and jump right to season 21 or are they going to do a proper release. I am not one to complain about The Simpsons on DVD but the release they out out a few years back for season 20 was horrible. I will gladly update to a new copy if they do a release with deleted scenes, behind the scenes footage, the complete Morgan Spurlock special, AND the commentary on every episode which we have come to be acustomed to.
