Re: Bates Motel -- "The Man in Number 9" -- 4/29/13
I spent all week wondering how Norma was going to BS her way around
and they purposely cut to the end of her explanation. I figured they would somehow
but it got tied up a little quickly for my taste. I wanted to see her squirm a little.
Freddie Highmore continues to impress as Norman. Really creepy (yet sympathetic) in the scene at Bradley's house.

Great episode. Loved the interactions between Norma and Norman, especially when she tried to talk to him about sex.
at Norman dreaming about sex with Bradley. I liked how he covered his hard on when. Norma came in.
Felt kind of bad for Emma when Norman was brushing her off. He was a dick to her.
Norman losing it at the end in front of Bradley was great. You could see he's slowly developing the split personality that will transform into his mother. He really deserved that for reading too much into their hookup.
I'd like to see what Norma does to Bradley for hurting her boy.
Poor Doggy.

Sucks this season is almost over.
Cute dog.
Is the creepy guest booking a collection of rooms for multiple prostitutes
I think he will be a lot more interesting compared to Shelby.
I feel old when Vera Farmiga is only a year older than me.

Norman was so creepy when leaving Bradley's house I was thinking they were going to have to hide another body.
All scenes involving Norman & the stray dog were intense. Some were scary and the ending was sad. Highmore is so, so good in this.
Scenes with Norma & Emma were awesome!
I am going to be very sad when this season is over. It's been great.

Boy, the Sheriff was awfully anxious to tie that up in a neat little bow, wasn't he? I'm thinking he may have been in on some of Shelby's wrongdoing. I'm guessing they'll keep that underwraps until next season.

Yep, another good episode!
It was pretty telegraphed that the dog was going as soon as they showed it by the road.
Oh, and did I hear it correctly? They said that Shelby did shoot the asian girl?

Great ratings last night too. 3M viewers and 1.3 in the demos. Shows on The CW would kill for those numbers.

So, now we see where Norman's obsession with taxidermy starts. Poor pup
Seeing Norman talk like his mother was chilling. I'm glad they're going for the slow burn, rather than turning him into a killer so soon.

Norman sees a car about a football field away and can't run quickly across two lanes to make sure "his" dog doesn't get hit? His reaction was so slow I thought it was an Austin Powers spoof.
Gotta be. For as much as he harassed Norma, once he saw Shelby dead he was ready to straighten things out ASAP. Seemed way out of character.

Re: Bates Motel -- "The Man in Number 9" -- 4/29/13
I kinda had a feeling that when Norma was telling Norman about the dangers of the dog, a lot of it could be applied to Bradley. Now knowing where the dog has been etc. I think she just started talking about Bradley right after the dog talk too.
I like the show. This and walking dead are the only dramas I watch. Norman's acting has gotten better, but it seemed pretty amatuer at the beginning. Also some other things that annoy me, the fight scene Norman had with his brother a few episodes ago in the kitchen. Fight was terribly choreographed and then last night that whole outdoor scene when Norman was walking up to and leaving Bradley's house, it looked very fake. The writing and the twists and the show as a whole have been better than expected.

I definitely disagree about Highmore's acting being amateur at the beginning. I think he's been on point right from the start. He impresses me every week.

Same with Longmire, it's a summer series, but season 1 was only 10 episodes.

Story on the girl who plays Bradley. Her parents are a real piece of work.

THE DETERMINED YOUNG ACTRESS IS BLAZING A PATH FROM THE HOCKEY RINK TO HOLLYWOOD WITH A ROLE IN THE HITCHCOCKIAN BATES MOTEL
Doe-eyed actress Nicola Peltz has just returned to her Westchester, New York, abode after making the rounds at Paris Fashion Week. “I’m obsessed with Miu Miu,” she says with little prompting. Soon she will head out to Los Angeles for the premiere of her new television show—the hazy, haunting psychological thriller Bates Motel. The series, which tells the story of a young, pre-Psycho Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) and his twisted relationship with his mother (Vera Farmiga), enlists Peltz as an unassuming friend and love interest of Norman’s. “On a superficial level, I’m a girl her age, I went to high school, I had boys, I had drama, I had the whole school experience…but what happened in her life is completely different from what happened in mine, and that’s what makes it so interesting [for me],” says Peltz, whose father, Nelson Peltz, is an American businessman and self-made billionaire. Since first watching the original Hitchcock classic at age 13 with her grandmother, Peltz has been transfixed.
“I watch it today and I still jump!” she says. The young actress, who first gained widespread attention for her role in M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender (2010), took to the dramatic arts early. “I come from an ice hockey family, and I used to go to the rink all the time and play with my six brothers,” recalls Peltz. “My mom [former model Claudia Heffner] always told me there was no way I was ever going to be an actor—that she wasn’t going to drive an hour into the city every time I had an audition.” But Peltz kept on asking—at ages 9, 10, and so on—and when she got her first role, with the Manhattan Theatre Club at age 13, her mother’s resolve wore down. “I had no idea what I was doing,” she says, “but my passion was so strong that my mom realized it wasn’t a phase.”
Today Peltz is seeking out her next “strong character role” (recently she was cast alongside Mark Wahlberg and Shia LaBeouf in Michael Bay’s forthcoming Transformers) while enjoying some quality time with her sizable family. “They are my best friends in the world and my toughest critics,” she says. “I’m not sure what’s next, but I have an older brother and sister at NYU, and I’d love to go to Tisch. I also have a brother acting in L.A.”

What's the big deal with the parents? Nothing strikes me as bad about them from that article.
