I've enjoyed this season so far, but have found the past two episodes as "catching up" with characters ones as opposed to driving the plot forward. Hopefully this one changes it and manages to touch on everyone.

David Benioff must have been ultra-busy with this episode. Co-writing it, directing it, and being the co-showrunner? Yowza.

So the GOT beer has officially sold out in my immediate area. I will be partaking of some other craft brews along with some Louisiana style fried chicken and shrimp fried rice with some peeps.

I was always wondering when we would hear the "Bear" song. Chuckled the first time I heard it, marked out at the way it was ultimately used. I always found it cheesy in the books, but punk rock can make everything sound bad ass.
Decent ep. Lots of bits of humor sprinkled throughout, mostly due to Tyrion. Who was the guy who saved Theon? I am only on Feast For Crows in the books and can only presume he shows up later. Spoilerize if necessary.

I love this show but man are there just too many stories going on at the same time. It works better in the books.

Spoiler:
Blackfish shooting the arrow and walking right away was such a boss move. Nice parting moment between Arya, Gendry, and Hot Pie. Really liked the negotiation scene with Dany. Ridiculous ending (in a good way).

Agree. Books lend themselves to certain aspects of storytelling that works much better for the printed format. Having read the third book, I am getting confused as to how they will split it over two seasons, as they are moving through certain storylines with quite a bit of haste.

It's time to stop thinking of the show as a direct correlation to the books chronologically. Hell, you can't do that when it gets to books 4 and 5 anyway since they're simultaneous.
Book 3 will be split across two seasons, but there's no reason to think it has to be ONLY book 3 in those two seasons. They could easily finish Storm in episode 4 next year. It's not like they haven't already started pulling other events forward/to-the-light (see: Theon).

My favorite episode in quite awhile.
Daenerys finally starting to show some leadership abilities. Jamie losing his hand was a nice spot to end it.

Great episode and then you finish it with a song played with modern instruments? Are you fucking kidding me? Took me right out of the mood and ruined an amazing final scene.

Yeah, that ending music was a distraction. Other than that, pretty good episode.
Although, with respect to the dragon, something tells me Daenerys is planning to eat her cake, and have it, too. Not looking for book spoilers, if there are any related to this.

I don't know if it's been answered in a previous thread or not, but what is the actual ratio that GOT is shot in? We happen to start watching at 8pm and it was presented in 2.35:1 and then we watched a bit of the 9pm showing and that one was 1.85:1. What gives?
