WWE 2K14 (The Rock will be on the Cover.)
Stephanie McMahon revealed on her twitter account as part of the build up to WrestleMania that current WWE champion The Rock will be on the cover for the new WWE 2K14 video game.
The tweet reads: "Breaking News: @TheRock will be featured on the cover of WWE 2K 14" Casey Collins EVP CPG #BPS #WrestleMania.
There have been no further details revealed on the subject, but this has to suggest that the rumors of The Rock continuing with his part-time participation with the WWE are true.
This will not be the first time The Rock has been the featured wrestler on a WWE video game. He was the feature performer on the first two SmackDown games for the PlayStation and was the sole face on the front of WWE’s first outing on the PlayStation 2.
The Rock’s catchphrases “Know Your Role,” “Just Bring It” and “Shut Your Mouth” were also used as the tag lines for the WWE’s three sequels after the inaugural SmackDown game.
The other wrestler to receive this honor is Brock Lesnar, whose “Here Comes The Pain” was used for the final SmackDown game before the series became SmackDown vs. Raw in 2004.
Last year’s cover athlete was CM Punk. The reveal of his rather striking cover art was live on Raw.
It is also worth noting that this will be the first game produced by 2K Sports. THQ, the former games company that produced this established franchise, went bankrupt last year. 2K Sports produces games for the NBA and NHL, and are a subsidiary of a bigger company behind worldwide hit Grand Theft Auto.
It will have been ten years since The Rock was on the cover of a WWE video game. His presence will certainly attract non-wrestling fans to the product with his movie connections.
Ultimately, this is just a nice gesture by the WWE towards The Rock. What will matter is how good the game is when it comes out.

WWE 13 has been the first wrestling video game I have bought since the early 2000s. It has been enough to keep me satisfied for a long time, especially given the current PG era of wrestling.

I'm pretty sure I read that 2K hired Yukes in Japan to develop this, which is the same company that has been developing WWE games for THQ since the Smackdown seires started on PS1. So I would expect pretty much the same type of game as what we've been getting from THQ

The last one of these I bought was WWE 12 which really didn't do much for me. The last one sounded cool because of the Attitude era storyline but I never bought it (might when it gets to be around $20 or less). It could be interesting to see a different company's take on this though after WWE being with THQ for so long.

Just so people know, this won't be a true 2K game, not this year anyway.
Since 2K hired the same team from THQ to make the game, including Yukes and the THQ team, and the fact that they were working on it at THQ before the bankruptcy, it's basically going to be the same game.
Well, they added a classic Randy Savage, so that's good. They also added Ryback's 2-man shellshock, I do wonder how the hell that would work outside of a cutscene.
And I doubt you'll see next gen versions of 2K14. THQ barely had the resources at the end to make the current gen version, and I would hope 2K would scrap this engine and start fresh with the next gen, but that's unlikely.

2K has posted a pretty funny ad for 2K14, featuring the Ultimate Warrior invading 2K headquarters and delivering a promo like only he can. There's also a little bit of game footage at the end:

I think they did the same for Randy Savage, and any other legends

Re: WWE 2K14 (The Rock will be on the Cover.)
Sigh...this really is just going to be a slight roster update to the game this year, isn't it?
As excited as I'd be to have Warrior's entrance in the game, his model looks horrible right now (the CAW I downloaded for '13 looks better) and I only end up watching the entrances once or twice before I get tired of waiting to play (load times are bad enough already).
Still, it's nice that 2K is reaching out to these guys (or their families) that are on the outs with the WWE, so I guess that's something.

Is the Iron Sheik going to be in the game? If anyone follows him on Twitter, man he REALLY hates Warrior.
