If any of my local Walmarts have a copy, I'll be in for the 3D version. That's the best price I've seen.

And for those of us in Wisconsin, home of the minimum markup law and crappy Walmart pricing:

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
Walmart exclusive Digibook Combo Pack (Blu+DVD+UV) ̶$̶2̶2̶.̶9̶6̶ $23.96
Standard Edition Combo Pack (Blu+DVD+UV) $18.96
3D Edition Combo Pack (3D+Blu+DVD+UV) ̶$̶2̶4̶.̶9̶6̶ $28.96

Les Misérables Limited Edition Gift set w/ 20 song CD Soundtrack (Blu+DVD+DC+UV+CD) ̶$̶1̶8̶.̶9̶6̶ $21.96

I feel your pain. It's not just a state issue, however. I live in AZ and the nearest (about 3 miles as the crow flies, 8 by road) Walmart never has the same sale prices as the next nearest (about 12 miles). In fact, they hardly ever have sales on BR/DVD media unless it's big national sales push like BF.

As a laisse-faire capitalist, I hate saying we need more laws about how companies run their business, but as a consumer this issue really irks me. Businesses that operated nationally ought to have the same pricing for anything they sell nationally... making allowances only for state/local tax differences and certain regional differences. Example: Right now. winter clothing is probably on sale in Wisconsin, but in AZ we're wearing T-shirts.

When do 24 hour Walmarts put out their new releases? I'm hoping I can stop about 6AM on the way into work tomorrow to get The Hobbit

I thought that at first, but I think it's probably one of those pre-order cardboard things, like Best Buy has.

Re: Walmart Ad 3/17-3/31/2013

Stopped at my Walmart just after 6AM this morning. Had to look around for the Digibook, it wasn't in the front or in the regular Blu-ray shelves, both of which had other copies of The Hobbit, only in a stand back in electronics. It didn't look like there were a whole lot of Digibooks, so if you want one, you should probably go sooner rather than later. And it rang up up $30, I mentioned that it was $23 in the ad and she checked and fixed the price.

Yep, mine here did not have the ad price. I forgot to bring it in and showed the price on my phone and was still rejected. Saying they don't match online price. I said this says local ad price. She wouldn't budge. Arrgghh!

I guess I was lucky, when I mentioned that it was cheaper in the ad, she had an ad right there to check (this was back in electronics)

Got to two Walmarts today and it was listed at $29.99 on sale. Forget it.

Found it for $24.99 at Costco. Got it.

Picked up the 3D from Wal-Mart yesterday for 24.99, no problem. The shelves say $29.99, but it rang up $24.99.
