Almost Human (FOX) -- Starring Karl Urban -- Pre-premiere discussion
http://www.deadline.com/2013/03/karl...c-drama-pilot/
After very lengthy negotiations, Karl Urban has closed a deal to star opposite Michael Ealy in Fox‘s untitled J.H. Wyman/J.J. Abrams drama pilot (formerly Inhuman). The project reunites Urban, who plays Bones in the Star Trek movie franchise, with the franchise’s helmer Abrams. The action-packed buddy cop show, from Warner Bros TV and Bad Robot, is set in the near future when all LAPD officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids. It centers on one such pairing, cop John Kennex (Urban) and his android partner Dorian (Ealy). Kennex is described as a respected police officer who has shut down emotionally after a tragic mission left him critically injured. The cast of the pilot also includes Lili Taylor and Minka Kelly. This marks the first series regular role for Urban, who recently played the title character in another futuristic cop project, feature Dredd 3D.
This sounds awesome and expensive. I hope it gets picked up. Casting Urban as the lead is badass.
If it gets picked up, please FOX don't put it on Fridays.

The Following won't come back until January 2014, I can definitely see this airing Mondays at 9pm in it's place.
There aren't many options. Tuesdays are comedies. Wednesdays and Thursdays will be X-Factor in the Fall.
The only other place is Fridays, but look at what happened to Fringe and Touch.

A sci-fi TV Show from JJ Abrams? No way it can survive. It may be an interesting show, but it will start fighting for its life its entire run. If it gets picked up, of course.

I'll sample it because of Urban & JJ, but I could not be less interested in the premise, at least as described.
The only thing worse than a cop show is a "buddy" cop show, and the only thing worse than a "buddy" cop show is when the "buddy" is a robot or dog.

It's a buddy cop show with named Mac, and his robot partner named C.H.E.E.S.E. It's called "Mac and C.H.E.E.S.E."

Well, JJ Abrams will pretty much have zero involvement with this show since he's busy promoting Star Trek and will be prepping Star Wars.
Wyman was pretty much the main guy (head writer and showrunner) for Fringe. If he manages to get most of his staff from Fringe, then I think this show is in good shape creatively.

He co-wrote a few episodes of Fringe in the 1st season.
But yes, he's pretty much the hardest working "In Name Only" TV Producer right now.
