I have seen enough. Community from this point on will be a three season show for me. Whatever the fuck they are doing from here on out, I simply don't care.

I'll be stubbornly sticking with it until the end. I got a few laughs out of this one, but the Jeff storyline was awful. And too dramatic for this show (Jeff cut his stomach with scissors? Really, show?).

After seeing who was playing Jeff's father, did anyone else think Jeff's half-brother was going to be Richard Castle?
But, yeah, worst episode of Community ever. Even the lighter stuff at Shirley's house wasn't funny. The Shawshank narration felt forced and lame.

Wow, you guys are pretty harsh. I thought that it was fine. Although at this point, was Britta and Troy supposed to be dating? It wasn't mentioned, and it seemed like there could have been an underlying thing between her and Jeff still (granted she does get involved with everything anyway).

I thought all the other eps so far this season were fine, but this episode was absolutely terrible. It didn't have anything to do with it being a Thanksgiving episode in March either, it was just that it was not funny or interesting in the least.

I thought it was alright. The show is still worth my time and I'm sticking with it for now. Though at this point I'll be surprised if there's a single truly great episode this season. The show has always been hit or miss but that doesn't really work when you're five episodes into the season without a hit.

My favorite line was when Jeff told Britta, "you really you'd this".
I know in previous threads I've mentioned people over-analyzing the show this season, but I guess I can't blame some of you now. That scene with Jeff and the scar clearly did not belong on this show. I was expecting Jeff to tell Britta on the car ride home that he made the whole scar story up and it was actually a hockey scar or something along those lines.

I didn't think the stuff with Jeff was terrible, but this storyline deseved SO much more. If you look back to the beginning of the show, this particular plot thread is really the very crux on which this show was built. I realize over time it became much more than this, but at it's heart, this show was always about Jeff breaking down the walls he had built up as a result of his father leaving and learning to put his faith/trust into other people again. Eventually he was going to have to come to terms with his dad. I can totally imagine a version of this episode that worked (something much closer in tone to Mixology Certification, an episode I was iffy on at first but have come to really appreciate with repeat viewings), but unfortunately, this curent crop of writers just could not pull it off. There's a complexity to the characters and the writing that's just gone now.
Part of the problem was the whole thing was diluted by the b-story which was terrible. I'm sure budget cuts played a big part in this, but the whole thing was constructed in a way where we didn't even get to see any of the jokes, but rather just heard about them after the fact. How is that good tv? And when Abed suggests the prison break and starts going into Morgan Freeman mode, I just about lost my mind because just like Hunger Games/Muppet Babies in the premier it was clearly another instance of the writers thinking "hey Community does a lot of spoofs/parodies, how about Shawshank?" and cramming it into the episode when there was no chance it would be done any sort of justice. It turns out, not only were they not able to do it justice, but the whole thing had no payoff whatsoever.
I'll keep watching because there's only 8 episodes left, but this used to be my favorite show on tv by a pretty wide margin, and now it just kind of makes me sad.
token positive comment: The joke where Abed drew the map of the house on his chest made me laugh.

i enjoyed a thanksgiving episode before a Halloween one. Way to Britta the continuity NBC.
i have no idea what i am watching, but i discovered Wild Turkey makes whatever this is, easier to stomach. i am sticking with this until the bitter maybe they can turn this around end.

I am totally in the minority on this one I guess because I loved it. The stuff with Jeff hurting himself was probably too much for a show like this, but did explain why he is the way he is.

Well... ratings for this episode were up 25 percent from last week. At this point, I just don't see how NBC doesn't renew it for at least 13 more episodes.

The entire Jeff & Britta plot was not Community at all and the B-plot was a failed parody with zero laughs to be had.
I haven't been as harsh as others in previous threads because the show mostly still "felt" like Community. This episode felt like an entire different show in some bizarre universe that has similar characters.
As it stands, this was easily the single worst episode of the show's run.
The single bright spot in this mess of an episode.

I still don't know why they insist on putting this up against TBBT. I'd imagine the ratings would be better in a different time slot.
