Wreck-It Ralph release week pricing

It's been posted over at SD that Target will have the 2-disc BD for $19.99 and the 4-disc 3D BD for $27.99 next week. With the $7 coupon that is/was available, you can snag it for $12.99/$20.99.

They report the 2-disc price at Best Buy to be $22.99, but there is no image to confirm it. Hopefully we can just post other prices in this thread as they are released.

Of course, you can always price-match at any of these stores now (Target, BB, TRU, WM, etc) if you want.

Thread at SD for reference

Re: Wreck-It Ralph release week pricing

I hate the $8 difference for the 3D disc. It's bad enough to have to pay it in the movie theater (which I wont). I haven't upgraded my TV yet to 3D, but it'd be nice to be future-proof with the 3D blu-ray. But at that price differential, it ain't happening.

I'd be interested to see what percentage of movies sold are actually the 3D version. 1%? 5%?

Disney inflates the 3D % by putting the pre-order coupon on that SKU and making it oftentimes cheaper than the other version. I know almost all of my 3D titles are Disney combos because of this sneaky strategy.

Re: Wreck-It Ralph release week pricing

^^ Thanks for those links.

So, the 3D set is the same at both BB and Target: $27.99, or $20.99 after $7 coupon.

Even if Amazon matches the $27.99, their coupon was only $5, so it'll be cheaper to buy this at B&M.

I canceled my preorder at Amazon and I'll pick up one of the versions at Target. Too bad no book version this time.

Re: Wreck-It Ralph release week pricing

i'm still on the fence about cancelling my Amazon order. What are the chances that Amazon's pre-order 4 disc set price (w/ $5 coup) drops enough to make it competitive with next weeks offers?

Can you pricematch Target's price at Best Buy and use the $7 coupon? I also have $10 in Rewards Zone Certificates, so if this is allowed, it would cost me $3 out the door.

I would think Amazon match's the 27.99 price point less the $5 so 22.99...so it's a matter of $2 basically. I'll probably keep my order as I am inherently lazy.

Yeah, laziness is also leading me to keep my Amazon order too.

That's what I'm planning on doing. YMMV simply because managers and employees have different opinions about what a coupon constitutes. Some say it's a promotion that can't be used with new release prices. Some say price matching is a promotion that can't be used with coupons. But if you have a sane manager/employee, they should know coupons are the same to them as cash and so your price match SHOULD go without a hitch.

This should be doable, as both the RZ certs and manu coupon should be considered cash tender.

However, you need to make sure they're processed in this order:

1. Price match (will require manager override/approval)
2. RZ certs (BEFORE they hit the total key for the transaction)
3. Manufacturer's coupon (AFTER they total the transaction)

If you try to apply the RZ certs after the total's been pressed, or after the manufacturer's coupon, it will require the manager to come back and void the transaction, and they have to start over from scratch.

Thanks for the info. I had trouble with Peter Pan (which I also pricematched, so it does work) with the coupon and rz certificates (I've rarely had rz certificates to know how to use them until the facebook deal). The cashier seemed to be new as he had no idea what he was doing. I felt bad because there was no other cashier and there was another guy behind me that waited so long he decided to put his purchase down and leave. I completely understood as I was also in a hurry that day, but I was about to go out of town and the sale was going to end before I got back, so I wanted to get it while I could.

Re: Wreck-It Ralph release week pricing

I ordered the 3D version from Amazon, but am really considering canceling it. I don't really care about the 3D an only ordered it because of the $5 coupon. If I can get the 2 disc for $12.99 at Target, I might hit that up.

I preordered this from amazon with one of those $5 facebook promo gc things. Do those get refunded since they already expired?

Nope, I did the same thing with another preorder that I canceled a couple weeks ago. I did buzz them and they issued a $5 credit on my account, so you could always try that if you wanted to.

But the $5 coupon was for the 3D version, so that doesn't help anyone. Suckage.

Re: Wreck-It Ralph release week pricing

I just canceled my Amazon 3D BD order since it would be $27.99 - $5 coupon = $22.99 + tax vs. ($27.99 - 5%) + tax - $7 coupon. Target wins and I doubt Amazon is going to lower the price further since they have PM'd the base price (though they might now that I canceled). I just hope that Target has more than 4-12 copies of the 3D in stock (which has happened far too many times in the past) so I don't have to get there by 8:02 AM to have a chance to get it before the coupon expires.

Do you have a 3D TV? I remember before I got or had looked at one, I said the same thing and passed on the 3D versions to save $5-$8 bucks. Once I got the 3D TV I regretted that and never buy a 2D version if a 3D one exists. $8 is a bit much for the 3D, but $5 is always justifiable to me.
