Re: Low prices on PV blu-ray at Family Video
Does Family Video sell PV titles for these prices in stores or is this online only?
EDIT: Didn't realize how low shipping is, so I ordered Moonrise Kingdom, Looper, Savages, and Lawless for $8.04/each after tax and shipping. Thanks for the heads up OP!

The Family Video near me has section of used DVDs for $1 each if you buy 10 (otherwise, they are $1.95 each). Good fodder for the next Best Buy Upgrade & Save.

bought a copy of expendables 2 from FV during an xmas sale, and it was audio skimped from the 11.1 and 7.1 tracks in lossless to a lossy 5.1. not all rentals are marked on the front like warner discs. they're often cleverly hidden now.

I went in a store to check prices. Some of the cheaper ones on the site were $7.95 or 3/$21, but some were ~$10 or ~$12. Anything I was interested in, I already had, so I didn't buy anything. I did notice that Ted and some others were in the retail Blu+DVD+DC packaging as opposed to the rental only packaging that they're in at Blockbuster. In fact, I don't think anything I saw had the rental packaging. Can't vouch for the actual discs or if the online store sells the same versions as B&M.

I just received about 2/3rds of my order that I placed the other day. I know the titles are used, but it would be nice if they'd at least check the discs before they ship them out. I've never seen such an assortment of shitty looking discs at one time. And I buy used quite a bit. The price was right, but the quality wasn't. Lesson learned.

Ted is the retail version. You'll get all the special features that are on the blu-ray. The only thing it'll be missing is the dvd. Family Video gets far less rental versions than Blockbuster.

I got my order today. Ted, The Amazing Spiderman and The grey all came with their slip cases and Ultraviolet slips inside. TAS also had the extras disc included. Have not had a chance to play them and see if extras are missing.

Re: Low prices on PV blu-ray at Family Video
Thanks, OP. I just checked and decided to get Spider-man and Dark Knight Rises. $17 for both (including shipping). Pretty good deal. I'm not as worried about special features, but I usually like to have the original artwork and blu-ray case, which doesn't seem to be a problem with FV according to everybody who's commented. I realized I've only bought one thing from them back in 2006, so it's been a while. I kind of laughed when I realized getting Cars used on DVD for $11 was a good deal (which it was at the time or I wouldn't have bought it) when that price for a new blu-ray is sort-of a good price (especially after all the great Disney deals we've gotten in the past).

I'm curious which versions of The Campaign and Magic Mike they have. Just wondering if they are the combo pack blurays with special features also or if they are the cheaper versions?

One thing to add about combo packs at Family Video - they separate the discs into two rental cases (one Blu-Ray, one DVD) so they can rent both and get revenue from both. When you buy a PV title at Family Video stores, you do NOT get both discs, unless you buy both. This is true, at least for the stores near me.

I didn't get any dvds with my order but The Amazing Spider-Man and Ted both had Ultraviolet codes and both worked. The Grey has a download code that I haven't checked yet.
