Best back to back songs,or one two combo on an album.
between cd's and lp's. I've got a good 1800 records in my collection, and to this day, at the age of 29 I'd say there are no better 2 songs that play back to back on a record than For Whom The Bell Tolls/Fade To Black on Metallica's Ride The Lightning.
Just 2 PERFECT songs and very DIFFERENT songs back to back.

Ha, the first thing i thought of when i saw the thread title was Blackened/Master of Puppets. I start my runs everytime with this cd and when he yells "Fix me" during Puppets i feel like i could run forever.

Well thats embarrasing, i mixed up my opening "B" songs off Metallica albums. You are correct, i meant Battery.

D.N.R./Down For Life - Testament (from The Gathering)
After the relentless speed of D.N.R., the mid-pace riff in Down For Life just sounds massive.

THE BEATLES -- Magical Mystery Tour -- Strawberry Fields Forever & Penny Lane
You could do a zillion Beatles examples though. Hmm...
IRON MAIDEN -- Powerslave -- Powerslave & Rime of the Ancient Mariner
BLACK SABBATH -- Sabotage -- Symptom of the Universe & Megalomania

I still have to go with "Baba O-Reilly" followed by "Bargain" on on The Who's "Who's Next".

I also love "Middle of the Road" followed by "Back On The Chain Gang" leading off the Pretenders "Learning To Crawl".

Though not anywhere near as popular as the ones mentioned so far, Whatever Gets You By into The Drawing Board by The Features gets to me every time. It's the perfect start to their album "Some Kind of Salvation."

Husker Du off of New Day Rising:
"New Day Rising" into "Girl Who Lives on Heaven Hill" - crushing opening anthem leads into even more crushing second song anthem.
Sex Pistols off of Never Mind the Bollocks
"Holidays in the Sun" into "Bodies" - almost too obvious to mention, but this may be the most blistering open to any album ever.
Can off of Soon over Babaluma:
"Chain Reaction" in "Quantum Physics" - propulsive, rhythmic epic slowly degenerates into echo-y, atmospheric ambient. Some of the best drumming I've heard in a rock record.
Chemical Brothers off of Dig Your Own Hole:
"Dig Your Own Hole" into "Elektrobank": I love the linking of these two great beats
Elvis Costello off of My Aim is True:
"Angels Wanna Wear my Red Shoes" into "Less Than Zero": the loose, poppy Red Shoes drops into the neurotic, poppy Less Than Zero. Two great but completely different singles.
Grateful Dead- "Scarlet/Fire" my personal favorite Dead live two-fer.

First one that came to mind was Fight Fire with Fire/Ride the Lightning.
