Redemption (2013) D: Knight S: Statham

"The story of an ex-Special Forces soldier who has found himself homeless on the streets." - IMDB page

IMDB still has this releasing in March on its Coming Soon page, but I doubt it as there's no poster or trailer yet.

I'm interested because of Knight (writer of Eastern Promises).

Saw your synopsis and then imagined what it could be like. And then I read the title again for the film title...to see at the end of the thread title that Jason Statham is in it? Sooooo it's an action movie?

Statham is really showing some range these days.

This is now in limited release and on VOD. I saw it last night and was absolutely FLOORED! "Redemption" is going on my top-10 list of 2013.

Steven Knight, who wrote "Dirty Pretty Things" and "Eastern Promises" makes his directorial debut along with writing the script.

They have finally pulled a great performance out of Statham.

My only complaint about this movie is the dreadfully slow pace. Not including credits, the film is a little over 90 minutes but it felt like a 2 1/2 hour movie.

That being said I did like it. Probably one of Statham's best performances, based strictly on his acting (there is not as much action as the trailer implies). This is a nice little crime drama with an emphasis on the drama.

Grade: B

I think his other good performance is in The Bank Job. That one had no typical martial arts action at all, if memory serves me correctly.

Redemption was just a powerhouse performance from him and his co-star. She was great.
