Fall Out Boy Reunites
http://www.chicagotribune.com/entert...,2455929.story
The return of Fall Out Boy is something the world's 20-somethings have been waiting for and counting on in these hard times, with no music melancholy and self-pitying enough to quell all our feelings, no one to be our No. 1 with a bullet.
Fear not, milennials! Fall Out Boy has indeed returned, releasing a new song, promising a new album and tour and an "intimate show" Monday night in Chicago at Subterranean, according to a press release. That's right, Feb. 4. We'd suggest get your tickets ASAP, but it sold out in minutes already.
Their new song boasts an appropriate gratuitous title, one that would have passive-aggressively topped countless AIM profiles back in the day, "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)." It sounds a little like hair metal (awesome) and will be the single from the ironically titled album, "Save Rock and Roll." Fall Out Boy, why did you ever leave?
They tried to convince us they weren't coming back, too.
Pete Wentz recently told Chicago Tribune's Luis Gomez "I'd say ... don't hold your breath that it's happening."
Well, it is happening.

Re: Fall Out Boy Reunites
I think it's too soon. Right now they're still in that phase where they lost their fanbase, but not enough time has passed for them to become retro and those who loved them in 2006 are ready for some nostalgia... like how 98 Degrees just reunited and there are people actually excited because it has been a dozen years and those who loved them when they were 13 are now ready for some nostalgia.

I find Fallout Boy the band members insufferable and annoying, but I really enjoyed Infinity on High.
New song is catchy and surprisingly, not bad:

I never got the hate for this group. Although i don't get the extreme hate for any group but whatever. However, FOB never reallys seemed like they were hitting the headlines much for stupid stuff (although isnt there guitarist married to someone famous) and they never seemed extra douchy in interviews. It seemed that they just got alot of hate cause they had some videos and got popular quickly. I actually thought their songs were pretty catchy and fun. Wouldn't mind seeing them live.

Pete Wentz wants you to chase him like the Beatles. Douche.
And this is why so many people despise this band. They push their mediocre bass player out in front of band photos because he's the most photogenic and wears the best eyeliner. Pretty much says it all.

At the end of the day I'd still rank them above "mom rock" artists like Nickelback, Daughtry and Maroon 5. FOB had a couple guilty pleasure songs in the day, and to be honest I welcome their "comeback" much more than I could Creed and Limp Bizkit.

So they're slightly better than two of the worst bands in rock.

Nickelback/Daughtry/Maroon 5 are hardly better than Creed/Limp Bizkit either.
FOB were largely forgettable, but at least there are three or four songs of theirs I can consider saving from a fire... those other five don't have a single one.

I can't stand Pete Wentz, but Fall Out Boy made solid records and I find their tracks randomly popping into my head from time to time - so I'm glad to see they're back at it. It's not high art but they're great at creating fun, smarmy pop tunes with catchy hooks. I'll be going to see them in May.

The guy pulls his weight. He also is the most vocal member of the band (as well as owning/running Decaydance Records).
The only album he didn't write all the lyrics for was their debut on Uprising Records. He and Patrick both wrote the lyrics for 'Take This To Your Grave'.
