"Utopia" British Channel 4 Drama Season Thread
Utopia will follow a group of people who find themselves in possession of a manuscript of a cult graphic novel. The tome is rumoured to have predicted the worst disasters of the last century and the group soon find themselves targeted by a shadowy organisation known only as The Network
Granted it's not stateside. I'm curious to know if anyone else is watching this show. It is 2 episodes in and so far i'm loving it. Really Excited to see where this one goes. Hopefully i'm not the only one watching this series. Would love to hear some other comments.

I'm watching. I like it so far.
Story-wise, it's neither better nor worse that any of the two dozen or so other conspiracy thrillers on UK TV the past few years (TRUE FACT: 57% of all aluminum foil sold in the UK is made into hats!). But Utopia is quirky, has some pretty solid performances from the actors, has that nifty minimalist electronica soundtrack, and I really like the oversaturated colors (that make the show look simultaneously like a graphic novel and a Jean-Pierre Jeunet film).
Love some of the humor, too. Like when Wilson Wilson is describing his uncle, Milton Wilson, and one of the other characters looks at him and asks "what's with your family?"

Yes everything you've mentioned is why i'm loving this show so far. Sad that this will never ever be aired in the states expecially after episode 3

We watched Season 1 when it first aired on C4 and have watched the first episode of Season 2. Definitely not one for the squeamish!
I liked the way that they deliberately played with the colours and the framing of scenes to remind you of the central graphic novel theme.
Looking forward to episode two which I'll catch up on tonight. I've not read any reviews so don't know which, if any, of the protagonists from last time will re-appear.

The ads in the US do a good job of hiding the conspiracy angle:

The Fox show is a remake of a Dutch reality show where people try creating a Utopian society. It's kind of like PBS's Colonial House, only, ya know, set in modern times. The gimmick of the show is that the Dutch network has been livestreaming it online 24 hours a day since January. So you can see what the people are up to literally any moment of the day.
The HBO show, run by David Fincher, is a remake of the UK show. AFAIK, it's still on. Gillian Flynn is writing this version.

Yeah; its probably the best show, with the least amount of viewers, on TV right now.

Watching this today. Mostly because of the HBO series thread bump.
Lie upon lie upon lie. Nobody to trust. Everything is a trap.
Good stuff.

The best parts of this show:
1. The enemy is very dangerous and relentless.
2. The consistently nightmarish outcomes. The protagonists just can't catch a break.
3. The aesthetic.
The show has Fincher's look and feel all over it. It seems like an obvious move to have Fincher remake it. Hopefully not too obvious.
