Re: Fringe Season 5

Where's the bargain? $40 for a pre-order of a 13-episode season when S1-4 of Fringe have been as cheap as $18 isn't remotely a deal.

Yeah, on sale and months or years after the initial release. The SRP of any of the first four seasons of Fringe is $59.99. You generally don't see the price go down for at least 3 months after initial release, and again, it's a sale price. If you don't catch them at that sale price, you'll still pay closer to $50 - $60.

I'm sure that there will be a sale price on the 5th season, too. Anyone who buys TV shows on DVD or Blu Ray regularly should know it's a sucker's bet to buy them out of the gate. They can always be had cheaper with a couple of months patience, and referencing this forum for when those prices are happening.

Yes, if we all wait 10-25 years, this isn't a deal, and I can proudly give these seasons to my grand children, telling them how cheap I got them.

However, if you're a fan of Fringe, this isn't a bad price. Average, but not bad. Best Buy is selling it for $39.99 I think.

Best Buy's release price for Season 4 was $39.99. Given that this is quite a few less episodes, hopefully release week pricing is cheaper, but I guess we'll see.

Yes, it's a bad deal.

What would happen if everyone started a thread on their "fan of [] show" thread and used your excuse?

$39.99 for 13 episodes is a rip off. Even at 22 episodes this wouldn't be a deal.

Fringe s4 came out September of last year and was on sale for $16 in November. Yeah, that was around Black Friday, but if you look it's 24.99 right now and has been around that price for almost a month.

So yeah, not really a great deal.

Could always just ignore the post. But I don't see my response as an excuse.

Sometimes "reminder" posts are more irritating than the initial post itself.

If you think 13 episodes is a rip, try 10 episodes that are 27mins each, of Hung S1. Thank God I only paid 4.39 for it, because anything more and I'd be shipping that sucker back to WB.

I could ignore, but this forum shouldn't have random "threads" where no deal is present.

Hung would actually be a good deal since it's episodes are from a Premium network and not normal, free television. The Third Season, when it came out, was only around $29.99 IIRC. Pretty decent deal for the reasons I mentioned above.

Re: Fringe Season 5

I'm a fan of Fringe but I'd never pay $40 for a 22 episode season let alone a 13 episode season. I paid $9.99 for S4 on BF, if it comes down to it, I'll wait until I can pick up S5 for $10 or $15 (if I can't get it any other way). $40 is WAY too much for a 13 episode season.....of anything.

I can't believe I paid $60+ for X-files Seasons and $70+ for Star Trek TNG seasons back in the day. I guess in 10 years I'll wonder why I spent as much on some of the stuff I've purchased today.

Why wait 10 more years to wonder why? The first 4 seasons are free to stream on Amazon Prime.

Re: Fringe Season 5

Any word on a complete series box set? I've held off picking up the individual seasons for hope/fear they'd eventually release a complete set that had some kind of exclusive content (i.e. Lost, Alias, Stargate SG-1, etc.).

The complete series set is being released the same day as season 5. It's just going to be all of the individual sets packaged together and stored inside another box. Just like the Battlestar Galactica complete set.

It's up on Amazon now for $138.

According to TVShowsonDVD, there will be complete DVD and blu-ray boxes, but there won't be any exclusive disc content.

Re: Fringe Season 5

Well, damn. One of the very few things I would actually watch the extras for...being that there are none will make it easy not to purchase, seeing as I have 1-4 as it is.

S5 was a shorter season, so I want to pay $25-ish at most...
