Recommended Films For Toddlers?

So I have a 3 year old daughter and a 1 year old daughter and I really want them to grow up loving movies as much as I do. Any recommendations? My 3 year old is currently besotted by COURAGE OF LASSIE from 1946 although I personally think at there is too much war in it for her.

None. Don't make the same mistake we did, hold off any videos as long as you can.

Especially garbage like the Baby Einstein.

Can you say more about that, milo?

Our toddler daughter loves anything with dogs / puppies so she likes scenes from Up and The Adventures of Tin Tin.

You need to show the three-year-old MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO and KIKI'S DELIVERY SERVICE, like, now! I once showed TOTORO in its Japanese-language version to a group of toddlers (including a two-year-old) and they sat there entranced the whole time. It's come out in English dubbed versions since then with the Disney version featuring the Fanning sisters, Dakota and Elle, doing the voices of Satsuki and Mei, the two main characters.

When my daughter was three I showed her Shirley Temple movies, including HEIDI (1937). And when she was four, she was entranced by SON OF GODZILLA.

I'm sure you have a point. Perhaps you'd like to make it?

The OP (You) used the word "besotted" and figuring that most wouldn't know the word Cungar provided us with the definition.

I'd never heard the word before.

Something with a lot of bright primary colors. Like maybe "I Am Curious Yellow."

There's plenty of research out there, any screen time before 4 or 5 is not beneficial and can be detrimental to their development.

We were going to be totally screen free but somebody bought us the Baby Einstein set and we thought they would be educational but they'd simpy not.

Read, read, read.

Hold off on any movies as long as you can, there will be plenty of time.

The new Pooh movie is very charming, and pretty short.

It, by Stephen King. It has a clown in it and kids love clowns.

Re: Recommended Films For Toddlers?

don't turn your kid into a pussy.

Play a large variation of films. Musicals, or films with music, Classic films, Foreign films, etc.

Don't just fill it's head with shite.

Re: Recommended Films For Toddlers?

I was profoundly touched as a child by 'The Red Balloon'. As a young kid I knew (or at least though I knew) what the film was telling me. I remember crying as well.

People who fill their kids heads with freakin' Barney (or whatever the hell is hot right now) miss so much when they don't try to dig a bit deeper.

But what do I know, only people with children can comment on raising children because only they know best, or at least that's what I've been told.
