How closey do you revere IMDB Top 250
I regard it pretty intensely because it is the most accurate statistics that can be found right now of what are the greatest movies ever because it's by the most regular public. Not like some bs critics list or whatnot.

I love it when people treat the IMDB list seriously. It's fun to see, but I never understand why people get worked up about how films are rated on there.

I don't think there are any glaring omissions from the Top 250, but some of the films on there are quite questionable.

Let' see... would I rather have my dick(it's HUGE) run through a hand-cranked meat grinder, or would I rather watch 'Band of Outsiders' again?
Meat grinder, an easy choice.

I love Shawshank. It's expertly acted and I respect that its a straightorward and unpretentious adaptation of an extremly satisfying and entertaining story. It's one of the most inherently-watchable movies ever made.
That said, it's extremely overrated and not much of a cinematic achievement. I could listen to an audiobook of the novella and probably be nearly as entertained. And there's a fundamental disconnect where a story that nobody considers to be one of the greatest literary works becomes hailed as a cinematic masterpiece when it's thrown on a movie screen.
Now ranking Shawshank as #1 on the top 250 guilty pleasure movies of all time? I could probably get behind that.
