Deception -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 1/07/13
Synopsis:
The death of wealthy party girl Vivian Bowers doesn't add up for FBI agent Will Moreno (Laz Alonso), especially in a family as suspicious as the Bowers. Convinced that the tabloid staple's death was a homicide, he recruits his former SFPD partner and Vivian's childhood best friend, Joanna Padget Locasto (Meagan Good) to re-establish ties with the Bowers. Determined to find justice for her estranged best friend, Joanna infiltrates the dynasty she once considered family, and quickly begins to uncover why Vivian's life was very much in danger.
11 episodes will air for this season
Starring:
Meagan Good (Californication)
Victor Garber (Alias)
Laz Alonso (Breakout Kings)
Tate Donovan (Damages, The OC)
Marin Hinkle (Once and Again)
If you want to watch this early, the Pilot can be downloaded for free on Amazon or Itunes or streamed on NBC.com or Hulu. It's been out for a few weeks now.
I know this is a serialized soap opera and those don't really appeal to most here. I like the cast and I'm glad to see another attractive black female lead like Kerry Washington headline their own show. Meagan Good was good on Californication last season and is really nice to look at.

Strong cast, but I decided to pass on this given the few lackluster reviews I read. Plot sounds like an uninspired pairing of Revenge and Dirty Sexy Money.

Man, between Meagan and Kerry, who now has the greatest lips on TV?

You know I kind of liked it.
However, I'm not really sure how this premise can last multiple seasons. This seems like the kind of show that would be better suited as a limited run series.
Joanna: "Really? Meth Head."
Obviously there are alot of suspects, so they will keep you guessing.
and damn, I guess I didn't really notice until now, but Meagan Good has got a hell of a body.
Everytime I saw Laz Alonso pop up on screen, I kept thinking of Charlie from Breakout Kings.
BTW, I saw it got a 2.0 and won the timeslot in the ratings. It actually beat a new episode of Castle.

Shit, I've been seeing commercials with Meagan Good and wanted to check it out but never bothered to see what the show was or when it came on.

It was OK. I like Good's character and I love having Spy Daddy on my TV screen again but it didn't wow me. I'll give it a few more episodes before making a final decision.

I'd love to see her work on that 6-pack again

I finally watched this and I was surprised I liked it. (I had read horrible reviews).
The plot actually drew me in, and at least I could follow it (unlike Revenge).
I am not really sold on the lead of the show yet. Despite being attractive, she does not have much charisma. I like seeing another black actress carry a mostly-white show, though, and I thought it added an unspoken dynamic with her as a houseguest and the sort of distrustful vibe she got from some of the family members.
What I didn't get is that the police can just pay for her to go deep undercover like that for the long-haul?
