Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Oliver (Stephen Amell) discovers that after he and his father went missing, Moira (Susanna Thompson) and Thea (Willa Holland) stopped celebrating Christmas. Determined to make up for lost time and restore a sense of normalcy to the Queen household, Oliver decides to throw the family a Christmas party. Meanwhile, Tommy (Colin Donnell) asks Laurel (Katie Cassidy) to spend Christmas with him but she points out that Christmas was also her sister Sara's birthday and she needs to be with her father (Paul Blackthorne). Tommy suggests changing things up might be the best way for everyone to heal but Laurel isn't sure her father is ready for that. Meanwhile, Diggle (David Ramsey) tells Oliver someone is murdering the people on his father's list with arrows, which sends Oliver off to face his toughest adversary yet. John Dahl directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti & Marc Guggenheim and teleplay by Andrew Kreisberg & Marc Guggenheim (#109).

Episode 9 of 23

Returns January 16th.

Really good episode and nice reveal on Captain Jack although it doesn't really make any sense yet.

Too much of Laurel's father this week, he's just a horrible character and I'm not sure it's just his bad acting or if he's written that way.

Oliver is still really stiff.

Nice return to the island life. Still need to see how Oliver took down the big guy.

Captain Jack as evil arrow was odd. He is more of Lex Luther type than a hands on type.

Casting spoiler about a big character (in the GA universe) making an appearance:

Spoiler:
Colton Haynes ("Teen Wolf") has joined the cast of the CW's "Arrow". Haynes will play Green Arrow's longtime sidekick Roy 'Speedy' Harper.

Harper has also been known as the superhero Arsenal and, at one point, Red Arrow. Haynes' character will serve as a love interest to Thea Queen (Willa Holland).

my own spoiler:
Spoiler:
so since they call Queen's sister, Speedy, I'm wondering if this will be either Red Arrow or Arsenal instead.

They finally called him Green Arrow last night although it was more as a joke.

We finally got to hear it mentioned on the show. The police at this point would definitely have an internal code name for a crazy archer running around and shooting rich people with arrows.

Re: Arrow -- Midseason Finale -- "Year's End" -- 12/12/12

Okay episode. Not sure how I feel about Captain Jack being the Black Archer. Was half expecting I to be the masked guy from island.

I feel like something is missing from the Arrow aspect. I find I'm more interested when he is Ollie and dealing with integration back into society with friends and family.

Theory: list obviously wasn't written by his dad, as he discovered. I'm thinking instead hat it is a membership list. Where the organization is the funky symbol from the cover of the books. Now the twist will be if Oliver gets a second copy and compares wih his book. He only discovered his book had names when a page was burning. I'm betting mom and pop Queen's names are on the missing page! "moria Queen you have failed this city!"

Re: Arrow -- Midseason Finale -- "Year's End" -- 12/12/12

did i miss something or did Oliver leave his bow in the building when he jumped out the window?if he really did, does the black arrow have it? the police? how will he get it back?

I never followed the GA comic, so this beating felt very Bane and Batman. Considering how well trained Ollie is, i wonder what he can do to prepare for the next fight.

i would think an archer Vs. archer arrow battle would be silly, but this really had me excited and on the edge of my seat. I hope this show goes multiple seasons, and they figure out a way to make Thea a superhero. She is mint, and i want to see her kicking arse in some sort of tight garment.

Re: Arrow -- Midseason Finale -- "Year's End" -- 12/12/12

Really enjoyed the episode. The flashback to the Island definitely added more to the episode. I'd like to know about who Byron Mann's character is.

Very interesting reveal with the Black Archer being Tommy's Dad.

Katie Cassidy looked especially hot in this episode, especially at the Christmas party.

I always enjoy the scenes between Thea and Ollie. You really feel a brother-sister bond between them.

Looking forward to the return in the New Year.

Regarding Tommy's dad (what's his name anyway?) as the black archer - in the comics,

Spoiler:
Merlyn the magician is an archer that wears all black and is an archenemy of Oliver. He's basically an evil version of GA.

Thank you. Not being a huge DC fan I couldn't figure out who he was supposed to be.
