My first surround system...what's best for me?

Hey everyone I am looking to get a surround system for the first time.

I have a Sharp 42in LCD, PS3, Xbox 360, Roku, and get HD from an antennae. I would like to take advantage of some good sales before the end of the year, but I don't know what's best for me. I don't need anything to extreme and it needs to be a good system to just have the speakers laying on the ground/tables because I don't want to run any wires through the ceiling or behind walls.

I am kind of just looking for a good beginners system and will potentially upgrade in a couple of years when I have more income and a nicer place.

Currently I am looking at this one on Amazon.

What do you think? I don't really wanna spend more that $300.

Also, does anyone have any good plans to make some shelving for dvds/blu-rays?

Thanks for the help!

That would probably be a good one. I have an Onkyo HT-S3500, myself. It depends a lot on how big your room is and what kind of stuff's in the room. My bedroom, where I have my system is about 10x12/14. Depending on what I'm watching, the audio can be a bit overpowering.

Note: That SKS-HT540 does not have a receiver. Adding a receiver would likely push you over $300.

Or, the 3500 Spottedfeather recommended has a receiver included in the package, looks pretty decent, should match your other equipment, too. This one is 5.1 as opposed to the 7.1 set you linked. But that's probably more appropriate for what you are looking for right now, anyway.
