It's always good to plan a hit on someone in front of a documentary crew.

So I'm guessing Ed Helms doesn't get paid for the episodes he's not in this season and that includes taking the shots of him out of the opening credits.

He was still listed as a producer (probably contractual though), so he probably does get paid.

Also how fucking obvious are they trying to make this Erin/Peter thing? It just seems weird. Also why was Clark Duke not in this episode, don't tell me he's still servicing Jan.

Not only was this episode not even funny...it was slightly disturbing. Just weird.

I actually groaned when I saw this was only episode 8. Feels like this terrible season has been on forever. Why don't they just add a laugh track at this point?

This one worked for me, for the most part. "Red vining" had me dying.

This was easily the best episode of the season thus far. Most everything just seemed to click perfectly, and I love how even the most over-the-top material seemed to end on a solid note while setting the stage for future developments.

You know it's a weird episode when Dwight is the most rational character.

I don't even know what to think about the episode. This season has just been all over the place, plot-wise.

I agree. I've enjoyed the season thus far--not the strongest, but still funny--but this episode was just....weird.

Re: The Office -- "The Target" -- 11/29/12

Possibly the best episode of the season.

Phyllis and Stanley have been pretty much non-existant all season long.

I have a theory on this show. I'm not so sure it's not as funny any more it's just we are bored with the characters. The relationship has gotten stale. My favorite episode of all time is Diversity Day which was the 2nd episode of the first season. I watched this episode again the other day and I just didn't laugh like I always have. I think someone who has never watched this show, if they happened to catch an episode of this season they'd probably enjoy it more than those of us who have seen every episode. This season, I enjoy the 2 new kids as much as anyone else on the show. Everyone else it's just a tired act. I'm so sure the writing and style of comedy has changed a whole lot over the years.

I thought it was a decent episode.

Also, Pam is looking pretty good, again.

The post credits parts was pretty bad, though. We've seen Dwigt ask Toby stupid questions before, but last night's questions were beyond stupid.

This is the same person who believed Jim had mailed him a functioning gaydar just a few years ago.

True enough, but Angela was in on the action, too...

Reason why I liked it was because other than being funny, they had everyone involved. Meredith, Stanley, Phyllis, even Creed had more than one line. Jim and Pam were both likeable again. Andy wasn't in this episode and his character has been terrible this year. Dwight's friend was kinda funny.

I actually liked this episode maybe because it was a little off from what I normally expect. Not having Andy around was nice as well.

I read posts before I watched this episode and didn't know what to expect. Actually loved the episode. It was funny all around and had all the storylines worked for me.

I think it is character fatigue. While I liked that everyone in the office was involved, and I do realize the boss is gone, it really struck me that they didn't even pretend to do any work at all. Plus Pam deliberately offending a customer struck me as really dumb.

This episode reminded me a lot of Office Olympics from season 2 where most of the staff spends a ridiculous amount of work, not working. You basically have to have no boss and no Dwight for this to work me thinks. And I think that everyone realized how dumb Pam deliberately was at the end.

Re: The Office -- "The Target" -- 11/29/12

Wait a minute maybe the Erin/Peter thing isn't as bad as I though. It seems like they're setting up the following:

Andy as Roy
Erin as Pam
Peter as Jim

Think about it as Andy becomes more incosiderate he is developing Roy like characteristics. Leaving for the boat trip without taking her, being an ass to co-workers. He's not as big a dick as Roy was but it seems similar. Peter is leading the office in fun stuff like the Olympics mentioned above. He and Erin spend time at her desk a lot, and she expressed disappointment in Andy for inconsiderate actions.

Re: The Office -- "The Target" -- 11/29/12

I didn't like this episode.

Angela hired a hitman to kill/assault Oscar becasue he was sleeping with her husband.... That's not exactly sitcom material right there. I didn't like any of the Oscar/Angela stuff. I didn't think it was funny, I thought the whole situation was actually rather unfortunate for Angela... who has a baby with the guy. It was a soap opera storyline and it was a huge mess from the start. Maybe if they did it well it could have been funny, but they didn't.

The complaint card stuff wasn't that funny at all. Erin and the intern is just pointless. I can't get myself to care about Erins relationship at all.

I liked the Jim storyline though. I am interested to see where it goes. It could end with him going to Philly for good or it could end with him realizing that he wants to keep working with Dunder Mifflin. I think it'll be the first, it's a classic sitcom series finale move. I'm looking forward to how it plays out. The story was funny and I thought the end was nice with Stanley and Phyllis saying that they would help Jim out.

Red Vining. That whole sequence at the end was great.

I think they all realized that they were all being pretty dumb by egging her on to get a complaint and losing a client. I wonder whose client that was. All the sales people were out of the office.

I found Angela's hatred for jazz pretty funny.
